Well not necessarily h2o, most of the guys that the top dudes grab get hit like 20 times. So not everyone will eat a missile.

But I do agree that it would be too excessive, still, so I don't think it's feasible.

Kay so the only option that a GDI country has on being able to war is keep provoking some random dude by PSing them until they break gdi?

That's kind of dumb... No wonder there's trouble!

Does declare war work as a gdi country?

Like, what happens if GDI country declares war on GDI country?

Got hit the day before set was over, and with different rules and different players and much more players.

Maybe it's possible but more depends on the luck factor (e.g. not have someone gunning for you)

Total casher set too, the usual cashers went something else this set.

Low food, low tech, low military, not many cashers.

How was your D at the time oldman?

Guaranteed wars => Oilers have a shot at a good finish.
$400 oil throughout the set means oilers have a shot right? And I don't mean hybrids either

Alright, so it's time to brainstorm some ideas (I am not going to suggest they be incorporated or anything) to let out some of that creativity. If you're bored this might work, right?

This is meant to be humorous, or anything else you want it to be. Let me start:

Government: Socialism
Bonuses:
1. No technology permitted (this is the oppression towards the educated!)
2. -25% PCI (we all know how poor these folks are!)
3. Free building construction (provided for by the government!)
4. Land gains + 25% (think how Russia imposed socialism on eastern Europe!)
5. No food required (we all know how socialists starve to death!)
6. Military effectiveness -25% (starving, oppressed & don't give a sh*t!)
7. Military cost -50% (tanks, troops, air-crafts purchased from third hand vendors!)
8. Not allowed to purchase from public market, only sell (avoid outside culture to population in order to preserve order!)

Also, bonus?

I'm pretty sure this set is a write-off

Looking at the market and the board, it's a casher's set without a doubt.

The one set I don't go rep-cash this happens haha :D :*(

Actually that's not even correct, someone could fill that order slightly before you and by the time your goods get on market the standing order is met.

But the best way to do it is look at trends and gauge from there.

Don't worry too much about it, but your goal is to basically focus on construction sites.

60CS (60 turns)
100Indies (5 turns)
200Farms (10 Turns)

That's a pretty good start (75 turns)

Or you can go even riskier with less production and do 80CS
100 Indies (4 turns)
200 Farms (8 turns)

92 turns total, assuming not theo or dict

Sell bushels for $29 on the private market instantly, and set production to 100% turrets and keep them. Very simply, no need to think. The cash you get from selling bushels will land you enough $$ to build up to 2k land at which point the buildings you've built since will be your income earners and you no longer need to sell food.

Not a very good time to start stocking =p unless you're just trying to make farmers happy haha.
Reasons being:
1. Food decay
2. Hiding it on market is annoying

My guess is that the cheap military prices will weed out the mediocre indies and indies will have less competition in the mid-end game and prices will be better.

If prices are great at the start, too many commies end up phat and competition is stiff in the end.

You also didn't factor in the destruction of indies and constructing main buildings that most people do before stocking if not playing an indy.

But anyway, one turn spent today is a lot less than 1 turn spent tomorrow. CS optimality around minimizing turns is assuming that all turns are of equal worth, which they are not. Cashing 5m/turn today versus cashing 35m/turn in 20 days proves the point. The optimal bpt forumla posted by Xin is what is an 'estimate' under his set of assumptions. (see opportunity cost, etc...)

But when optimizing BPT you have to ask yourself: what are my other options? For example, exploring vs. cashing vs. teching vs. building BPT.

Edit: You also didn't factor in getting hit and retaling. The total land you build on and the total land you finish with are typically different :p

Last set I only went to 100BPT on 60k acres, not to mention I probably built on close to 70k throughout the set. The reason being is that I mistakingly assumed I wouldn't get past 50k and that exploring for 1 turn would yield greater benefit.
This game is way too complicated to play perfectly :) It's all theory-crafting.

It is a hardcore math and risk game, it is true.

It's very hard to win primary without knowing the ins and outs. The problem with dumbing it down is that it then becomes pointless to the veterans, etc...

I think though that people don't put an honest effort into understanding the game. There are so many forum threads that explain the game to the point of cruising into the top 100, but these days and this generation is made up of people with ADHD that want to be a winner by just showing up. If it's not as easy and dumb as an iPhone it's way too hard.

Harsh, but true.

Blid, I totally get what you're saying but to expect people to behave rationally is not realistic. People will do what they want to do. If a good player wants to 'get you' they will, but most of the time you can avoid getting hit or retalled by taking measures on your end, not expect others to take measures on theirs. You have to play this game without expecting 'anything' or else take the risk and it's consequences. As crest once said to me 'I never get lucky', well, that's a pretty good way to look at it, as its a mistake to depend on luck.

I learned that the hard way, but worse than the counter-hits by YOLO and farmer in my opinion would have been something like Fantastic Baby RoRing you into a war. That would have been nasty and worthy of rage >>

But all in all, yeah, you have every right to be frustrated and yet it's part of this game.

When it comes to guys I've grabbed, I:
1. Don't assume the person won't hit me if they can (for example I went to 50m turrets in stocking phase, 130% wep). This is the mistake that blid made :(
2. Don't grab guys that can hit me even if they make it their mission to do so for the remainder of the set (in other words I'm pretty conservative here). This is a mistake that many people make, and the risk they take. I've made it too!

When it comes to me doing the retal, I:
1. Look to see if it's beneficial (this includes making a statement of "I will retal") so it isn't always mathematical. See my retals on Giraffeland and Bibigon this past set. Those two easily cost me 5M NW, no joke.
2. The severity of the retal depends on the doucheness of the hit, which includes war if my set is ruined.

Can't blame a schmuck for not spelling correctly.

Yes, I've always stopped grabbing earlier but to be honest this round I probably stopped 1 attack short of optimal :)
The reason is that I'm pretty good at optimizing my finish without just cashing through corruption or loading on tech to avoid corruption and dumping on private market. I won't give away the exact strategy of course but it's all about avoiding corruption by buying the correct number of bushels (which is price dependent).

Cheers

problem with gaming food this late in the set is that you have to go have lots of cash on hand to buyout meaning you've lost tons of money on corruption, and even if you buy at 37 and sell at like 45 it is debatable if it's even worth it compared to dumping on private once you've used all your turns on last day even if its only for $35. Not to mention that you have to have a large private market to be able to use the cash, otherwise you run the risk of further diminished return by purchasing expensive goods on the public market. It doesnt make sense to cash to like 8B cash then buy at $37 and sell because you've already lost significant value from the corruption... I'm pretty sure I did the calc once.
