It is just unfortunate that some republicans have managed to successfully frame planned parenthood as being "all about abortions" for a lot of their constituents. It is that frame of mind that leads to a lot of people equating planned parenthood facilities to "abortion clinics". The truth is that planned parenthood provides health services to females in general, including STD screening/treatment, pap smears, mammograms, etc etc. Only a fraction of their services are actually abortions.

Meanwhile you have people arguing that they should be de-funded, disabling them from providing any of these services to women, because of one smallish subset of the services they provide. Of course you also have unfortunate situations like this one also arising, at least in part, due to that incorrect framing of what planned parenthood is.

Lets not forget that Alabama just spent $51k trying to prevent ~$5k in aid that was going to go to planned parenthood.

You completely missed my point, which is that republicans frame planned parenthood as being ONLY about abortions, which is false. That statement has nothing to do with the moral status of abortions. If one wants to claim "doing abortions is so harmful is supersedes all the other 'good' things planned parenthood does" then fine, make that argument (I'll argue with you). But THIS IS NOT THE ARGUMENT REPUBLICANS MAKE. They completely ignore all the other services and try to trick people into thinking that planned parenthood is just about abortions, period.

Now whether abortions can be fairly compared to mass genocide and death camps is a completely different issue (FYI: the majority of people are doing to consider you despicable for making such a comparison).

Abortion is murder, plain and simple. There is no other way to logically look at it.

If the people involved in making the baby in the first place had any sense, or sense of morality, it would be a very rare thing to have happen, unfortunately, these dolts collectively can't figure out that there are ways to prevent the pregnancy in the first place which would eliminate the need for wholesale baby slaughters.

I feel like this argument has a two-fold edge, on the one hand, it's murder, plain and simple, on the other, the predominant victims of this are the offspring of people who were too stupid to protect themselves.

The shooter in this case was a pretty exceptional case. Heck, he even shot a pro-life christian police officer in the course of events who was trying to defend the clinic (with whom he philosophically disagreed).

I don't think the shooter is "representative" of anything more than an extremist minority of pro-lifers. What is more worrying is the comment threads on the news articles about the shooting, where you see more people (trolling or not) saying the people in the clinic "deserved it" (death).

That sort of casual "you can say anything on the internet" rhetoric DOES get read by the crazies and it emboldens them. The fact that people even want to say such things is disturbing.

Jokes about extreme violence are going to get less and less funny as this fluff continues.
