A NAP says you won't war unless defending a DP and outlines terms of retails. It doesn't say you won't grab. If you want to discourage LGing then feel free to try to sign an NAP with something 2x l:l retails on all grabs or something like that. As signed, all an NAP does is outline what happens if a grab occurs

If your activity is protected, then we have to make a distinction between your role as a teacher and your role as a private citizen. Teachers are also not suppose to endorse one particular political ideology, but I rarely if ever have heard of someone complaining when a teacher has supported either the Republicans or the Democrats while on their own time. If we can make the distinction for non-religious issues, then I hardly see it being a large leap to make a distinction between a teacher's public position and their being a private citizen with regard to religion.

There should be no difference between getting drunk in public and expressing my political or religious views in public. If I'm not driving drunk or vandalizing or shouting or cursing or making a huge scene then it shouldn't matter if I get flufffaced drunk at a bar. But it does matter. I'm sure I'd get parents rushing to my principal's door if I did that. I'm also sure I'd get parents rushing to my principal's door if I were to stand on a street corner with some sign warning of Jesus' imminent arrival, or if I posted my top 10 reasons to vote NDP on my personal blog. There is no "private citizen." Even if my actions are protected and nothing can happen to me if I express certain views on public, those views can affect a parent's opinion of and confidence in me as an educator and as an extension of that their confidence in educators in general. That's true of off-duty cops, doctors, members of parliament etc. When your profession assumes a certain level of public confidence and trust then your actions as a "private citizen" certainly affect the way the public views your competency as a professional. There's a very thin line separating the two.

As long as I'm anywhere close to the community in which I teach I comport myself with a lot more caution and reservation than I would if I were farther away. The last thing I need is for a parent to see me drunk at a bar on a Friday night. School hours or not, I'm still the person that they trust with their children. P90X is a great program. You can either do it and omit any of the exercises that require a bar for pull-ups or go and buy one of those doorway pull-up bars for cheap. You can download P90X pretty easily from any of the popular torrent sites. I think it was $90 when I bought it. Very good program if you stick to it, and you're only using weights every other day.

mrford - driving behind an ambulance for any reason is certainly dangerous and can cause collisions and other fatalities. Drivers don't expect a vehicle following a passing emergency vehicle. The paramedics don't expect to see cars on their ass while driving to a hospital. What if the ambulance had had to run a red light or stop sign? Would you have also ran the red light or stop sign? In that case you had to decide what you wanted to ignore - the chance that you may not get to see your grandmother alive before reaching the hospital or the chance that your reckless driving led to at best a ticket and at worse a fatal collision. You made a choice. It was a difficult one and not one that I envy you for having to make, but nevertheless you made a choice. Don't try to pretend that your choice didn't increase the risk to other drivers on the road - including you and your mom.

I don't know. Something just doesn't feel right about Rogers and Bell reducing public access to the Leafs. I feel like they should know better. Rogers has done a great job with the Jays. Every game is live on the Fan and Sportsnet. Now obviously the demand for Jays games isn't what it would be for Leafs games - there's no way I'm paying money to watch any Jays game short of the playoffs - but reducing public access to the Maple Leafs is just so... well you don't do it. It's the Leafs! How do other big market teams operate? Do you have to pay extra to see the Yankees in NY? The Lakers in LA? The Packers in GB? etc.

Personally I already have the package that includes Leafs TV. Unless Rogers removes it and makes it part of their Super Sports Pack or makes it a stand-along channel I'm fine. More bang for buck as Mapleson said. And I like a lot of the unique things that they have on Leafs TV in terms of pre-game access. But I can see how it can be a problem for others.

Oh, and it's crazy that the sale of a $1.32 billion property only represents slightly more than 1% of Teachers. 2041 is going to be a nice year for me :)

By making the two EST conferences both 7 teams they eliminate so many options to solve the numbers problem. If they move an EST team from Conference B into C or D then you have 8 and 7 team conferences from the West and 8 and 7 team conferences from the East. Top 3 make it from each conference, and then the next two best records from each East and West. In that case if the 5th best team in one conference has a better record than the 4th best team in the other in their same region then they make the playoffs over them. Still keeps the importance of conferences but eliminates the fact that 14 teams have an better chance making the playoffs than the remaining 16.

IQ certainly does matter and it has observable and measurable affects on the way people perform certain tasks. What people fail to realize is that IQ is sort of analogous to money. You don't need more, you only need enough. If we look at IQ as a weekly income, then the majority of tasks and jobs and skills etc. what we need in our lives cost around around $100 per week. You might have $140, but for the majority of items all you need is that first $100. Sure you are able to do some things differently than others, but for the most part those things are either not necessary for the majority of individuals or there are alternate ways of achieving them.

What I'm saying is that yes - IQ matters, but as long as you've reached a certain benchmark you're not disadvantaged over somebody who has also reached that benchmark but has surpassed it by more than you.

I'd go with Nelson. The Pats secondary looks like Swiss Cheese and Holmes has been looking pretty good but when you consider how streaky Sanchez can be, how adaptable Belichick is, and the spectacle of a Jets - Pats matchup I'd stay away from that game.

Shonn Greene and Benson look fairly even. Both teams average around 100 rushing yards a game. Both teams have a decent passing game. Both teams are playing against tough divisional opponents. For this one I ask myself, who is more likely to be leading at the end of the game - the Jets or the Bengals? My answer to that question is the Jets. They're going to be a lot more concerned with managing the clock and holding onto the ground than the Bengals who I feel will be fighting from behind all game long.

H4 - My opinions are pretty similar to yours. I had a nice conversation with some buddies last night over a few bottles of Crown so I'll try to remember as best I can...

My arguments were that yes, the system is not perfect, and yes, there are problems that need to be addressed, but any grassroots movement that has ever been successful has had a very specific focus and a very specific goal. I don't know much about Occupy Wall St. but whenever I see interviews with these Occupy TO folks on CBC or CTV not one has been able to clearly articulate exactly what it is that they would like to see changed. They say that the system is broken, but when asked what a better system looks like they're unable to answer.

One buddy of mine then said something that makes sense. These people don't have an answer. They don't know what do to do fix it. They're not politicians, they're not businessmen, they don't have the knowledge or experience. All they're saying is that there is a problem, and they're trying to do whatever it is that they know how to fix it - which in many cases is getting high and dancing around the streets. All they want is for people to consider the possibility of change and they're trying to get that message across the best way they know how.

His argument kind of resonated with me. At first I thought they were a bunch of uneducated and ignorant hipsters getting high and playing tacky sack in St. James Park. They had no focus. They couldn't clearly articulate the problem. They couldn't even begin to think about a solution. They should just shut up and go home. But really how can we expect such a diverse group to have one focus or present one solution? We can't. They're doing all they can to try to get the people who are in a position to brainstorm solutions to recognize the need for having the discussion. We're too comfortable with the current system, and we need to think about ways to fix it. The type of change they're probably looking for will take decades to develop, but at the very least the fact that all these people are protesting in solidarity with this whole occupy movement is a small indication that change is necessary.

TD CEO's opinions are interesting, and make sense:

"My main advice is stick to your guns. When people say, 'You don't have a solution,' say, 'Of course we don't. If there was a solution, don't you think people would be doing it?' To ask the people who occupy Wall Street or Bay Street to have a full answer is absurd. They're doing their job which is to say, 'If you think this [system] is working for everyone, it's not.' Now they have to figure out how not to get captured by special interest and keep the pressure on. We need people to talk about these problems and how we're going to solve them."

Ya I've been to a few TFC games. Always sit in the supporters section. Amazing experience. You don't sit down at all for the entire game. Singing and chanting non stop. I'm an Argos (CFL) season-ticket holder, I've seen the Leafs play in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Buffalo, and Detroit, I've been to NHL playoff games, a ton of Jays games and other MLB games around the States... I've even seen the NLL championship game where Toronto won and I can say that none of those come even close to the level of engagement that I have when I'm at a TFC game. It's just awesome.

H4 - It wasn't about selling a risky investment, it was about selling a risky investment with the knowledge that it would fail. If a company has an adverse interest to their client - in this case, having bet against the very security it was selling - they have a requirement to disclose that to the client. Again, this isn't about simply selling a risky investment. It's about selling an investment that they themselves bet against.

"The Ottawa Police Service and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police said the bill would help restore public confidence in the justice system."

Wow... locking people away for sharing a joint restores confidence in the justice system? I wonder how long it'll take for a smart juror to confidence a jury to nullify this law the next time they're faced with sentencing some university student to 6 months for no reason... or better yet, a Judge to rule that despite evidence supporting guilt, the accused be found not guilty because of the outrageous disparity between punishment and crime. This is what happens when you give Julian Fantino a voice. I'm ashamed to be living in Vaughan.

It's because SOL is pronounced by most people as "soul" wherease SoF is pronounced by most people by saying each individual letter (rather than just saying "sof" as in soft without the 't') I don't know how or if or why that would change the way you spell them, but it's the only real difference that I can think of.
