i'm agreement with detmer, would make people more likely to start countries late in the set if they get more turns to start with.

i think turns should just accumulate like normal though (as opposed to earlybird turns), probably easier on the coders and it still gives everyone that starts in the first ~2 days/40 hours the same amount of turns and after just start with the max after 2 days amount.

i don't think it's a bad thing to be able to attack quickly, the suckiest thing ever is getting killed in war then...waiting...waiting...waiting for turns to be able to get back in it etc. as llaar said before, some people get killed and just decide to quit that set or for good if they are new. more likely to stay on if they can continue playing in some fashion and without starting completely from scratch.

this should 1) make all the work and time people put into their country mean something by getting a portion of it back (levels or percentage) 2) allow players to keep playing after being killed, even if it is just to build/regroup and not to attack until some probation period is up.

scavenge idea is interesting, spending the turns to get back...but it would take some working out. this could introduce a interesting element into it, even chance. a scavenge button like llaar said, but not just for missiles, maybe even targeting specific areas...

scavenge land
scavenge tech
scavenge buildings (though this is a dilemma if the country has been BRed)
scavenge military

each turn spent scavenging would recover a portion of the previous countries NW, 7-13% each time.

but who knows, maybe that is just making it too complicated...

certainly starting with a boilerplate mono with some % bonus as to your previous country's specialty and stock would be easier and less complicated. based on the level system, once you reach a certain point you start with the base size for that level

i still like the idea of having a turn bonus somehow...just don't have any ideas as to what it could be other than arbitrary time limits like there are now.

maybe flip it, reward activity somehow?

also, the turn bonus as it stands keeps people from using screen refreshers all day maybe?

combine this with 120(120) restarts and you have a very dynamic and fun war :)

maybe 100 turn protection would only apply to that countries ability to attack, it could still be attacked during it's protection or probationary period allowing clans to further kill a suicider who will just attack again after coming out of protection.

it also creates a little advantage to those logging on at the exact start of the server which imho would be a bad thing.

perhaps alliance countries that start right at the beginning get 120 turns, none saved. countries logging in later still start with 120 but get rounded up in saved turns instead. everyone would have the opportunity to get all the turns, provided that they make a country within 40 hours (amount of time to reach 120(120)) of the set starting.

any country created after that point would just get 120(120).

that would help make restarts a little more interesting as well, if something like the 1/10 restarts does not get implemented.

Ronnie, I'm not whining or complaining about RD cross-killing, i only have a problem with 1:kill. Other people had problems with cross-killing and whatnot, but many of them have already backed down from a fight, which is what I'm complaining about.

MrCharcoal, i never said RD runs multis or bots...mainly I have a problem with your 1:kill policy and also i like to war.

it seemed that a lot of other folks had a problem with the policy too (and cross killing/retaling or whatever..) but none seem willing to fight it anymore.

why? after you proved you were good at war, it's like lets "don't ever touch RD unless it's to kiss their feet" and "we're soOo sorry we ever hit you, now we might quit, please forgive us". 1:kill is like handing the keys to the server over to you to do what you please and i'm not sure why more people aren't standing against it, just because RD is active, plentiful and good at war.

thunders ninjas are ridiculous. i can confirm that his ninjas have hacked into the mainframe and are viciously humping every code line into submission in furtherance of his evil no-good cheating ways.

i am just glad to know, that if (and i do mean that as a very highly unlikely "if") his ninjas fail an attack, the mainframe will suffer no harmful effects at all and thunders ninjas will be beaten mercilessly to their deaths with soggy pickles.

i hear ya detmer, but if you fail "attack intelligence centers" you still lose tons of spies to NO damage at all to the target, even a little boost to their SPAL.

like my spies were just waltzing down main street and got gunned down haha...nah they were actively trying to kill the targets spies :)

other attacks have collateral damage even for failed attempts...does it make sense to lose thousands of spies and not kill a single one of your opponents?

i'm against anything that forces people to grab in order to be successful...some of us are lazy (or just plain busy) and we need that all-x option to remain competitive.

what would you say to a land pool/ghost acres option based on dead country land and dropped land (kind of tying in to the dropped acres thread)...

all dropped acres and dead country land goes into the land pool. if your country has been successfully attacked in the past 24hrs, you get ghost acres back from the land pool, in some way proportional to the amount of land taken from you. SS and PS would not yield ghost acres unless you had lost land to a grab within 24hrs. if you lost 50% of your land to a suicider, you would get more ghost acres than someone who lost 10% to a couple grabs.

i think someone brought this up in the old forums and the general consensus is that it's good to leave somethings unknown to keep it interesting. some people will keep better track than others on their own and some don't pay attention at all and log in to all their stock returned haha.
