I hate the idea of nukes & missiles in the first place. It allows unskilled idiots with barely half a brain to ruin other peoples sets.

I made one landgrab on this guy,he pumps up warfare and he has been sending missiles my way ever since. Not to mention spy ops too eveyday.

Its a shame that morons like this ruin other peoples game just because they dont have the mental capacity to run a half decent country themselves.

This is gonna be the last time I run a theo in tourney, SDI sucks

30 is my target. Still quite a gap to breach. The closest was the set before the last one. Managed 26.7m - very good tech prices, but almost 3k of my buildings got leveled midway through the set. If not i might have come close.

Im actually not too sure if a ttr can hit 30mil - unless tech prices are exceptionally good. I think only a casher can do that

While I do agree that H's tech is a downside, I think the biggest downside to playing a H casher is the price of bushels on the PM causing you to lose money when destocking

Originally posted by dantzig:
H casher is great in Express and super easy. enshula was right that H casher w/o tech is shockingly good--and it doesn't take much tech to make it equivalent to what a R or D can achieve with a "reasonable" amount of tech for the short set duration of Express. Then you have the choice of converting to MBR for jumping but that isn't really necessary in Express.

H's only downside is its max tech limitation which can result in a weak military situation.

I started to jump 3 days before the end.

If you had jumped earlier, you would have a little less stockpile left :)

Anyways, I look forward to seeing you in game A the set after this one. It would be good to keep pushing for higher networths. This set was good to see the highest networths for top 10s.

kwmi, i've a question for you: How did you manage to finish higher than the set before that considering tech prices were actually much higher the set before the last one?

It appears that either a rep casher or theo casher is the best strat to run in express. I'm gonna try to play a theo casher again and try to see if I can hit 25mil or so

And bringing allies into the game actually makes it worse for grabbing players and actually gives an advantage to all-x, in comparison to how things are now.

Simple solution to stop getting farmed: Have less land than the people around your networth. Always works for me.

I started as a theo techer, but then decided to convert to a casher as work got crazy and I was only be able to play once everyday. Messed up at the end though with many stored turns left.

IHSFT, I think that would be fun playing some weird combo govt/strat.

Finished with 20.4mil after making one monumental blunder after another with my Theo Casher. Watch out JJ, I think I can break 26mil next set easily by eliminating all that crap i did this set

Why dont we have a list of strats as mentioned, random number to determine one same gov type everyone in the challenge has to play. That would neutralize the role market conditions play on a strats effectiveness in a particular set

I'll try my best to take that top spot(for best 3) off you and afaik. Good luck to you too.

I must say though, you run a very good lean country. If you would grab a little and get to around 9k by the 12th or 13th of every set, you would have a very good chance at winning sets.

I'm pertty sure I can finish with a higher networth playing a 9-11k acres techer than your 6.5k techer. You dont know what youre talking about.

I'm willing to take your bet.

I think playing a techer this set is gonna suck big time. I've attacked about 8 countries in A so far and about 6/8 of them were techers. The reason there are so many techers i guess is because last set tech prices were very good.

Haven't had a chance to play an entire set, but I think the changes are a major improvement to the gameplay.

The only change i'm not too sure about (not saying that its not good) is the % of goods allowed to be placed on the market. As i did not play an entire set, could someone enlighten me on how the tech & military prices were affected? Did the increased supply reduce the prices significantly? Or did the increased amount of goods on market (tech & military) make techers & commies stronger?

Or the exploration rate can be reduced making grabbing significantly more efficient

I have played a techer for quite some time and have done quite well in Express, Tourney (many years back with many players) & also in the old Standard.

I have tried many different starts, and am convinced that an Indy start is the best for a Theo/Demo techer. The reasons are:

1) As a techer, efficiency is key. Having a strong military at the start enable nice juicy landgrabs with minimum amount of jets as there will be many landfat low defence countries around.

2) You need a good spy count to be able to identify good landgrab opportunities.

3) You won't get landgrabbed early on as you will be quite solid defensively early on.

4) At every point in the set, you will have a good networth to land ratio.

Yeah, i know very well about that considering i was #33 :(
I had good clean set in which I put quite a bit of effort which got ruined right at the death by someone I didn't even attack once.

I like lincoln's suggestion, i hope the admins would give it or a variant of it a try, as it would certainly increase the chance of a deserved winner each set, while also allowing us to see higher networths for winners.

I "won" the set before this, when I shouldn't have as someone who should have won got suicided, and this set I was the one who suffered.

When are these proposed rule changes going to be tested?

I would like to suggest one change that could help get rid of suiciders that ruin the game in Express: Max number of failed hits/X amount of hours. This would stop those idiots that spoil the game without having any skill whatsoever. Anyone can buy some tanks and just start AB-ing or jets for BR without even breaking. I lost about 8 mil networth this set because someone mistook me for someone else and decided to ruin my set.

#11 too. Its not an error. Its probably because they got landgrabbed and since their brain stopped developing at the age of 10 or 11, they declared war on someone like the child that they are.

Rob Game profile

I have the same view that you are allowed to landgrab someone as many times as you can, and that any form of retal is fair game if you cant defend yourself against it (be it an AB, GS, Missiles, BR, etc). It just means that your country was not built well enough.

There is however one form of suiciding thats impossible to defend againt (something I had fallednvictim to more than once) - the AB, GS & BR that dont break but done repeatedly making you lose a lot of units consequently network. Even if you have 1mil tanks, the suicider can keep hammering you with 200k tanks non stop, then move on to Troops & then Jets. There must be some way to stop this from happening as its impossible to defend against. You can lose millions & millions of networth if done over a few days.
