I also wasn't saying that the Canadian and US militaries don't work together towards those interests. I was challenging DH's assertion that Canadians hide behind America because were it not for America's protection we would be destroyed. My point was, as Scode correctly stated, that there aren't many nations that would attack Canada even if the US were not there to protect us. Under normal circumstances I would admonish somebody who writes in all caps like that, but given that I've made this point several times and you've ignored it I can only assume that either you didn't notice it or don't have a valid response for it. You absolutely cannot compare removing precious metal from a dead bodies' mouth to urinating on a dead body. The two are nothing alike. One is akin of removing valuables from a person's body. The other has no benefit to you whatsoever. To urinate on a body is an act that cannot be compared to removing gold from a person's mouth.

What freedoms to we lose when an act of terror happens? Perhaps civil freedoms? But those freedoms are taken away by our own governments who use terror as a justification. Millions of airplanes flew over the US without incident. Then 4 of them were taken over. Since, millions more have flown over the US without incident, AND the group/country that funded and planned the original attack have been for all intents and purposes whipped out. And yes you are justifying it. You're saying that what they did should not be punished because they were stressed. By saying that it shouldn't be punished you're either arguing that it wasn't wrong or that there were mitigating circumstances. In either case, you're offering some sort of justification for either why it wasn't wrong or why there were mitigating circumstances. One of your justifications was that the Taliban do worse, which in and of itself is a justification for jack fluff.

How can you say that it deserves very little punishment if at all? If this is a result of some elevated level of stress then these men are not mentally stable and should be institutionalized, just as you would do to somebody who commits murder but is found not guilty due to insanity or some sort of psychological condition. Their circumstances may certainly have led to their actions and that should be taken into account but the fact that tens of thousands of other people had to live through the same circumstances and did not act this way indicates to me that there is something different about these four men. You can't say that war zone creates an environment in which people behave differently as defence against actions when the overwhelming majority of people living in that environment do not commit those actions. These men either need to be punished or they need to be given psychological intervention.

And how are freedoms bought with blood? This one I never understood. I realize it's changing the topic a bit, but I can't help myself. What freedoms are we fighting for right now? As far as I'm concerned the TSA does more to protect American freedoms than the troops have been doing for the last few years. What are the Taliban doing to do? Build a raft and sail to American? Storm the beaches of Manhattan and attack the pillboxes? They took over some planes, and killed a bunch of people. Those peoples' freedoms were jeopardized. Measures have since been put in place to make it exceedingly more difficult for terrorists to take over planes and endanger the freedoms of others. The TSA is protecting your freedoms as an American citizen. All the troops can say they are doing is protecting the freedoms of the local Iraqi and Afghani citizens. And even that's a stretch.

And you're right. Different people respond to stress in different ways. Some of those responses are wrong, illegal, and should be punished. Stress is not a defence for defiling and disrespecting a corpse. There are other ways to relieve stress. Hell, shooting the damn corpse would be better than urinating on it. I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if it's been brought up, but wouldn't this policy of not accepting a marriage if it doesn't meet the requirements of the residents' nations apply to all marriages? Same-sex or not? If a heterosexual couple try to marry in Canada but their resident nations' laws wouldn't have allowed that marriage back home they would also be blocked from getting married right? This doesn't seem to be a same-sex issue. This seems to be a nationality issue. Canada is trying to stop itself from becoming this giver of marriage certificates that won't be valid when the couple returns to their home land. It happens that Canada's marriage laws overlap quite well with that of most other countries in all areas except for same-sex, but their policy isn't "gay couples who marry in Canada but whose native countries disallow gay marriages can't get married" it's "any couple who marry in Canada but who would't meet the requirements for marriage in their resident country, whatever they may be, may not marry in Canada"

Education is a requirement of the types of jobs that would give an individual the kind of experience required to do a good job at president. Getting married is not a requirement of anything. Well, it seems that KJ sent terms that included the you can break the pact for war with FDP yadda yadda. And they signed it, with the agreement that it will auto-renew as of February 2012. Now, in my interpretation, if something starts auto-renewing in February 2012 it means that it must have been in place beforehand because otherwise there's nothing to renew. A renewal is by definition at least the second instance of something. So, if it renews in February, that means it's active in January. However, after this was signed, KJ said that they should sign a standard LAF uNAP for the rest of the set. Presumable this standard LAF uNAP does not have the clause in question. Hanlong then signed this. So really, two pacts were signed for some reason. It can be interpreted or argued either way. In any case it's at the very least an ambiguous situation. I can understand both interpretations of what was actually signed. KJ assumed it was a standard uNAP whereas hanlong thought he had signed the one with the added clause.

KJ - in my interpretation, saying that a pact will "auto-renew as of February 2012" means that February 2012 is the first set of the auto-renewal, meaning that the previous set is the first set under the pact. If thats the case, then the "- This pact has a voidable clause for boths parties FDPs. FDPs are to be listed at the start of the set, or this pact. The uNAP can be voided if one of the parties of this pact is involved in a war with one of the other parties FDPs" clause is applicable during this set and it along with the rest of the terms will be auto-renewed in February, April, and June. Otherwise February wouldn't be the start of the auto-renewal. February will be the initial pact which will auto-renew beginning April. That's the way I read it at least.

Well, at the start of the set missiles weren't shown on the home page. Then they were shown with an icon. Now they're shown with letters. A big red Bonuses Available! wasn't on the home screen at the start of the set. New messages didn't result in the entire "Turns: 33 Money: $1,963,458,319 Food: 16,642,568 Bushels Networth: $6,126,375" being highlighted in blue. And the line that says that I am a member of Omega wasn't there underneath my country name. That's just what I can think of off the top of my head... and as far as I can tell all the changes happened this set.

I feel... lost. Confused. Cheated even. I feel as if I've been let down. As if the world has been taken away from under me. Disoriented. I feel like lashing out, but I don't know at whom.
