"Near disasters" happen to Westjet and so on, too. Go-arounds are pretty routine and there did not seem to be any urgency in this situation. From the timings of the recording, I guess the pilot was told to go around at half a mile from the threshold. Meh. When the media reports on this stuff it's never about making aviation safer, just about scaring people into tuning in.
