Another nothingburger from CNN. Guy lined up 200 m to the left, air traffic control advised him to go around. Call tower so we can yell at you, have a nice day. How this is newsworthy is beyond me.

If it had crashed into the 3 planes on the taxiway they would have likely been the most lost of life in a single airline crash ever!!

But this just adds to the other horrible stories I've heard from friends re: Air Canada which is why I pretty much only fly WestJet now :p

"Near disasters" happen to Westjet and so on, too. Go-arounds are pretty routine and there did not seem to be any urgency in this situation. From the timings of the recording, I guess the pilot was told to go around at more than half a mile from the threshold. Meh. When the media reports on this stuff it's never about making aviation safer, just about scaring people into tuning in.
