lol, someone out there kept undercutting me and all I wanted to do was sell 26mil bushels @ above $40... (i would have sold the rest of my bushel to my PM).

When I realized this country, whoever it was was not going to play nice, and let me sell my bushels, I crashed the market.

and sold over 50 mil bushels between $37-40... next time be nice and perhaps all can sell @ above $40 ;p

It was likely me; but, the problem is-- I market spy several players. There's about 5 ppl with 60mil bushels on hand. When you have 120mil stocked bushels with 3hrs left in set, you have to undercut, otherwise you're stuck selling everything at $36.

lol, well I usually sell all my bushels to the PM, but every now and then when I see prices in the mid 40s I will put a batch up on the public. No undercutting just wait out my turn in the queue, so all can benefit from the higher price.

then comes along the ones that just have to sell the 16 mil bushels now, no patience, and start racing for the lowest possible price.

my lowest price is $35 anything above that is gravy for me...

I would prefer selling 26 mil bushels at 44 then 120 mil bushels at 37. After all it is all the same in the end with an extra 240 mil in revenue. The only difference being I am not flooding the market with cheap bushels ;)

@drkprinc ..perhaps I should reword it to play smart and with a little patience. I halfway do not expect nice, but undercutting the market is not exactly smart, considering Commies, Cashers and Techers all need food to take turns. $44 dollars was a very fair price for that stage of the reset and there was ample time left in the reset to get it sold too.

the alternative could be like this reset where prices drop and the market gets flooded with cheap bushels adding pressure to the food market, and prices do not go over $40 for the rest of the reset ;)

But 90 mil bushels sell per 4hrs... i had 130mil i had to dump off in 3hrs. I didn't have time to wait in que for 6 ppl to dump off each of their 60mil bushels.

The longer you hold on to those bushels-- the higher the jets/turrets/tanks/troops will be. Thus making your bushels worth even less. I'd be suprised if all my 80 mil remaining bushels at 37 sell--....

just remember to save 3 turns :P

I usually just sell on private market for 34 or whatever I can get to. Too much stress waiting to see if they sell on public market.

I know not the best strategy, but I'm lazy on Sundays.

no worries Celphi I'm selling/sold my last 30+ mil bushels to the private.

the one thing farmers need to realize is the other strats have to buy food, and as long as they have a decent PM price for their military, they will ultimately win the reset. It does not matter if a commie raises their military prices, and with a tech start for the most part a farmer can ignore higher prices in tech.

nah, I'm pushing for a 17 mil net finish, I also stopped land grabbing, and just explored the last 2k acres. -- Still learning the nuances of the server.

Yeah- i had to pull my 75mil bushels to have time to sell the military tech. If my bushels would have sold higher-- or if the units were lower, I could have won set..- awe well.

Ended up selling my 60mil on private, but I finally got my top ten to I can't fluff too much :)

lol, i also got called a greedy landfarmer this reset, for the my 5 hits on one country. I figured most of the main netters already had their land. i'm going to be in serious trouble if ever the bots hit back ;p

yep they have been keeping tabs on all those that have abused them in last little while, ebert and vic are on top of their list.

Well if I'm gonna be on such a list, then I should make it worthwhile to be on this list. the puny 4K acre acres I'm grabbing on average just does not cut it, and unworthy of such an honor.

I am a strong believer in if I'm gonna be in trouble then I need to make sure I come out way ahead of anything that can possibly be thrown at me.

I have came to the conclusion that troops>turrets for all-x and being able to explore for 360+ turns isnt a waste even for techer. I was also on vacation all weekend so I didn't play with the market. Pretty low t10 too.

if you can keep military low without being grabbed an all-x can top 10 with the proper pm destock, easy top 10 if you catch public prices even lower!

and yes troops are better then jets or turrets for nw per buck, order is troops/tank/jet/turret/tech(under600)

If you want to know the best unit to buy for networth this is what I do:

Troop price * 6
Jet price * 5
Turret price * 5
Tank price * 1.5

Whichever one is the cheapest, is the one to buy.

To explain the logic--
I calculate whichever is the cheapest for 3 NW.
6 troops (.5 NW each) vs. 5 jets/ 5 turrets (.6 NW each) vs. 1 1/2 tanks (2 NW each)

I think I'll add an extra tool to my website to help everyone calc it out fast.

Price divided by the nw increase of per unit. Lowest one is your best bet.

There's a faster way than this?? They both require a single math operation and both require memorizing a number to multiple each type by.

Example:

Troops	$119
Jets    $130
Turrets	$120
Tanks	$548	

119 *6 = 714
130 *5 = 650
120 *5 = 600 <=== cheapest
548 *1.5 = 822

Making the turrets the best item to buy., then jets., then troops then tanks.

I honestly never looked at the formulas until 2 sets ago. The way you are showing it is simpler to understand celphi.

Celphi you added an additional step in the sense of making everything based on 3 nw.

144/.5 =288 for troops
160/.6 =266.6. For a jet or turret

500/2 = 250

period. that is the dollar per NW ratio, i.e. $/NW. weird how that works huh? it is elementary math. your numbers are arbitrary and not hard coded into the game. they are just ratios you picked for some reason.... they work but why did you pick that ratio when you an just use the base numbers? it is silly.

You're dividing by .5, .6, .6 & 2 and I'm multiplying by 6, 5, 5, & 1.5.

The math works out to be the same.


I picked 6, 5, 5, 1.5 because the decimal values have a common denominator of 3. You don't have to do that step though. Just memorize 6, 5, 5, & 1.5 just like you memorize (.5 .6 .6 2).

You're a veteran player so those decimal values are hard coded into your brain. When you're new or don't know the decimal values both achieve the same thing: memorizing a number for each and a math operation for each.

In order to come to the base of 3 nw. You had to find the TRUE values.why change or teach anyone the non true way. The base values are on wiki. Graphs and eestats. Hell probably in a bunch of posts on the strat board
