C'mon, I'm still new, quit making fun of me.

You "oversent" Hyacinthe. That means sending a lot more jets than are needed to break through. The result is you lose a lot more than you need to. 500 jets would have broken through in this attack and you would have lost maybe 50 rather than 20k.

The more important thing, though, is that attacking at all very early in a set - before people have, say, at least 3,000 acres, is likely to be a bad idea. That is because you spent at least one turn more likely two attacking and you got 90 acres. But had you explored for two two turns you would have got more acres and lost no military at all.

You avoid oversending by spying the target first. But if you do that this early you invest yet one more turn in the attack. Making the gain in aces compared to what you get exploring even less appealing.

So maybe keep your excellent aggressive instincts in check. Just for a while. When there is more land to grab - grab for all you are worth. :)

Is anyone here aware that returns (notable ghost acre returns) are based on units sent now? You get better returns for over sending currently. Making a 100 jet SS is wasteful.

I see it all the time on my no defense landfarm. Nubs all around.

Granted it looks like a bad grab regardless, but not solely because of the over send.

If I remember correctly (i didn't even read the post I linked to because I'm so lazy) you can get up to 1 ghost acre for every 1k units you send. Something like that.

In FFA this new rule has pretty much made the self farmers run all jetters. Last set my farms had 1 mill turrets and 8 mill jets. It has made that server rather boring imo. I havnt seen a strong effect on any other server though.

I can't hardly wait for tomorrow night when all my 10+ million barrels have sold and I systematically retal the sub 100 acres grabbers.....nom nom nom nom

I saw that oversend = more acres thing and tried it out on a few early grabs to see if it was useful. The first couple didn't look at all promising so I wrote off the idea.

But maybe I was hasty. Well, from what is being said here I definately was.

That 80(90) above also doesn't look promising though. The 1 extra acre per 1k sent obviously doesn't hold up.

But maybe on bigger grabs there is some point in a big oversend.

We could do with Xin to come and tell us the answer. Might go and post in his Q&A thread.

Rather think you should post from the news rather than from your in house news though. You are disclosing a certain amount of information not otherwise available w/o a spy (how much cash held for example and tech levels).

The over send for ghist has no real impact until 13-15k on solo servers. Most people run higher d on solo so typically you are sending a correct amount anyways

Also you cant excede the maximum amount of ghost acres possible. Dr, strat and land size allfactor in

Gov type as well
