They start up, get there stratd under way..and buy defense.

720 turn(almost)

Maintaining the proper buildings and tech will help.more then anything in this game.

Be sure you're specializing and not playing a rainbow strat. BPT makes a huge difference though.

Well you seem to have a grasp on the different strategies (Cashers, Techers, Farmers)
so i'll assume it's the startup that's giving you trouble.

By this point most countries (that have played all turns thus far) would be at or near their final build per turn. Depending on if they are grabbing or not i'd say that's anywhere from 50 - 70bpt on this server.

By ~2k acres as a Rep Casher i'm usually at my final build per turn of 50. All excess cash is put into business and residential tech which increases your income.

It really would go the same way for Farmer, except with Agri tech.

Your income will increase tremendously from tech early on in the set. Once you have a decent tech base and you're starting to get fat with land you can use all that money to get turrets.

There's several ways. You could start with building farms and selling food on PM (private market). <purchases> <sell military>

Or.

You could build IC (Industrial Complexes) set your spy production to 100% <manage> and sell your spies to the PM. Then, stop selling spies after like turn 80. (But be sure to build construction sites along the way). You shouldn't be using <cash> during your first 100 turns. Build CS (construction sites instead!)

There is always a risk, you need to gauge what is safe. I'll admit it's hard for new players to know this, as I usually go with my "gut feeling".

Look at your NW and your land compared to others to gauge an idea if you are a good target for others to look at.
This early in the set, most Commie Indies are safe from most everyone except for all-jetter countries.

Run 80% jets, 10% turrets and 10% spies from turn 400-600
Run 40% jets, 52% turrets and 8% spies from turn 600-800
Run 20% jets, 75% turrets and 5% spies from turn 800-1200

Run 100% jets from turn 1400-1800

It sounds like you're struggling with start.

An example would be like this.

You shouldn't be selling your military to your private market. Only on the public market. If you sell any portion of your military it would be the spies only. And since you can only place a maximum % on market, you'll be left with some defense. More than likely more than anyone else at your net, since other Gov't have to buy what's on the market.

It's 35% on other servers, I'm not exactly sure of the % on express. I think it's 60%.

Not always accurate, in terms of low land means high defense; but yes, 'land fat' countries tend to offer more land when you attack them than a smaller acreage country.

Land adds networth, so a country with 1/2 the land with equal net is presumably has a larger military or more tech.

At the begining of the set very few countries attack until about 6k acres. It is generally more efficient to simply explore rather than buy or make jets and oil.

You should be ok if you stay relative to the size of people around you, and I have found that you are less of a target if you can stay above 30th place.

BTW you must be looking at the wrong guys. I have only seen a couple guys over 125,000 turrets. You should start looking for targets at the bottom of the score list.

Might I suggest you try this formula to find good targets.

NW / Land

The lower the value, the better the chance that they have weak defenses. Of course military makeup per country varies, but this is a good starting point.

It seems fair to me... you got him mad. You have to be more careful. If you're going to attack someone more than once, you need to confirm they can't fight back or just cross your fingers.

If you join GDI and always attack everyone only once, then nobody can do special attacks on you and you'll be safe. Even if you are going to be attacking people multiple times, it's still good to join GDI so that random countries can't attack you.

It's all been summed up here, if you have any questions on how it all works you can ask. The nice thing about express is it starts up again very quickly. Chalk it up to a learning experience, and move on next set.

Getting killed sucks but if I had to pick a server I'd prefer getting killed in it's Express... The server is only 5 days long so if you get yourself killed you just wait a couple days (i don't think anyone died day 1 or 2?) then you're back in. Try getting killed mid set of Primary or getting killed in Free For All (which btw is anything but a free for all). Very unfortunate.

idk where everyone is at this point because i've been taking a vacation from express to take care of FA IA issues on FFA but 1million or more turrets are not very hard to get at all especially if your a communist industrialist. Make sure you don't rainbow strat it which means you build a little bit of everything. (Example: don't build enterprises, residential, military bases, industrial complexes, farms, oil rigs, and construction zones this is a no no and i had to find out the hard way that it screws your set up lol) i hope this helped a bit <3

What? You wanted to landgrab somebody but could not because they had spent their resources on acquiring turrets? There have been turret monkeys in the game since I first started playing. The upside to this is that they can't attack you with turrets.
