Tim Hudak and the PC's economic plan lacks any basis of working in reality. Voting for it will kill all growth in Ontario and do nothing to help the people of Ontario.

The PC platform actively preaches giving more corporate tax breaks when the last ones we gave did little for job growth and absolutely nothing for middle class job growth.

Like beyond all other issues that is the one that everyone should key in on. The economic platform they have presented is just not well designed, balanced or even presented to the Ontario people factually (they admit that 550k of the 1 mil jobs they will create would be created NO MATTER WHO WON!). That alone should make even hard core anti-liberals think twice about voting PC.

I say this as someone who is FINALLY in a position where I would benefit from typical conservative economic policies and instead they put this garbage out there.

The problem is that this election the NDP isn't bringing *anything* to the table. Like the conservatives currently they seem to have a very rural-centric leadership and focus. While there is nothing wrong with supporting rural areas, you can't be only about that. You are going to have to do better than simply "raising corporate taxes" is going to solve all our problems. At least the conservatives are presenting more substantial ideas (no matter how crazy many of them might be). The NDP leadership seems to forget how/why they won a bunch of seats in Toronto in the first place, including some fairly affluent ridings in Toronto. (like High Park).
The Liberals don't really have the greatest of plans regarding infrastructure/health/education but at least they are somewhat sane even if I"m going to be 80+ by the time the rail plans are finished and they openly admit that some form of taxation is the only realistic way to fund/operate these projects. Also under their watch Corporate taxes have dropped by over ten percentage points although I see why they aren't using that during their campaign.:P

No one is dazzling but 2 of the 3 big parties don't even have realistic platforms... I'm going to vote Liberal because it's the lesser of all evils.

As of now, I'm leaning Liberal. Definitely not PC. NDP would need to do a lot to earn my vote... although to be honest the Liberals haven't done anything to earn my vote either. There's a chance I may not vote, or spoil my ballot, or add some clever write-in candidate...

that globe article inadvertantly hits on something that *should* be an election issue and yet isn't. It's also something the globe doesn't like to report on, in part because of where their advertising revenue comes from. The fact that Ontario's track record with P3's (public-private-partnerships) is nothing short of abysmal and yet no one wants to admit that this is a failed model, at least the way it is/has been done in Ontario for the past 20 years or so (and they continue to push this model pretty much unopposed).
Not voting/spoiling your ballot isn't really an answer as that's a sure way to be ignored. imo the best way to address this is to either vote for the green party in protest (or another minor party) or alternatively vote for the major party that is the least likely to win your riding (which I believe in your case would be the NDP) just to diminish the winning party's vote share (*that* does get attention pretty quickly), especially in a riding like yours that are very close lib/pc contests.

If you don't believe that this is effective, consider this: the riding of parkdale-high park was initially won by the NDP during a bielection, having been a liberal stronghold riding prior. What happened? The NDP candidate got up and said "I believe that minimum wage should be raised." and brought up a whole bunch of other social issues around poverty. She won, and all of a sudden minimum wage "magically" hit the government's radar.

You want to experience futility in voting under our system? Try living in a riding that is 70-80% supportive of a party you don't like and has supported that party for the past 30+ years. Now there's a reason for low voter turnout...:P

My riding has a good chance of voting PC this election, but at least they aren't as bad as Alberta :P

3) the fact that the liberal leader is a lesbian was a non-issue which is very impressive imo.

The provincial/federal feud is going to heat up a lot more now. This could be fun.. I don't see how the federal government can basically hate on the two largest provinces with >60% of the population and think that there will be no electoral consequences for them. Pretty much if Ontario and Quebec are united on their view on something (which almost never happens) then that's the way things are going to be.

I have Italy flags on my car because my wife is Italian, almost my entire family is in Italy, and I've supported the Italian soccer team for 12 years. I have them on my car for the EXACT same reason I had Hockey Canada flags up during the Olympics and Leafs and Raptors flags up during their most recent playoff runs. But those assholes who put Canadian flags up aren't showing support for anything. That has nothing to do with national pride otherwise you'd have that flag flying 365 days a year. First of all, I have no Italian heritage. Second of all, the flags have nothing to do with national pride, but rather support of a sport team. The reason they're not up for more than one month is because the team doesn't compete in the competition for more than one month. It's the same reason my Leaf flag isn't up during the off-season. But I wrote all that, you apparently chose to ignore it.
