jcatron meant new members joining to alliance but those new members aren't actually new members instead they are infiltrators who will cause troubles by attacking against pacted alliances. its not that uncommon tactic.
as for your new member status on forums its a bug which qz hasn't fixed yet.

it has happened in past and will happen in future. some who lost war get their revenge this way. 1 more reason to make profiles public.
