I have always claimed that Portland, Oregon is the best place for beer in the US, and it looks like I'm not the only one who thinks that :D

Samuel Adams would have to disagree with you. Brewing started on the east coast son!

And yet, as the article points out, Portland has more breweries and micro-brews per capita than any city in the world. Not only that, but Bend, Oregon was also in the list. That's two, baby!!!

Hell, my favorite bar in Portand has over 100 beers on tap.

Usually the spots with 100+ on tap have a poor craft selection. At least the one out here, the Yardhouse, does. Tap rooms are popping up a lot now, usually have a good rotating selection.

Yup... tap count seems to vary by location though. The one in Columbia only has like 150 or so. The one up in Charlotte probably has closer to 300.

Not too sure what logic they applied beyond ranking Portland first but I suppose that an article that only ranks Asheville 8th isn't begging to be taken too seriously anyways.

Many years ago while traveling back to Europe I had a 4 hour layover in Boston. Well I got thirsty so I tried a Samuel Adams beer and thought hey this aint to bad. I noticed it had the German Reinheitsgebot printed on the bottle then knew why I liked it. So if you cant get the real thing then its better than constant trips to the little boys room!

THIS!

I tried Sam Adams once, and it was rather 'meh'. Sam Adams Millenium Ale I think. I'll take a Deschuttes or Bridgeport anything anyday :)
