Troops didn't use oil back when i used to play e2025. Are oil-free troops really too powerful? You can't very well PS them and I'd think you lose twice as much with them

Most suggestions on this board is to increase oil usage to make it a more valuable commodity. If you removed oil from troop use, then wars dominated by GS would need very little and oil would be completely useless. From a balance stand point, this doesn't make sense. Considering the troops still have to get to that other land, and I don't think they're going to be walking the whole way, removing oil doesn't make sense from a physical view either.

I say double the oil usage across the board. And add oil decay usage per turn like food. Increase population by a factor of 100,000 and then reduce food usage by a factor of 100,000.

oil usage by troops was introduced 2001-2003.

Oil usage needs to be more than doubled across the board. 5x should be about right.

if need for oil would be doubled then in ffa oiler would be swimming in money during wars.

I play a techer Marshal. And the "swimming in money" part is wrong, because if demand is increased 5-fold, there would be a similar increase in the number of oilers to balance things.

However, oil still cannot truly be a core strategy until it is used in some form of daily upkeep (say 0.1% of your NW per turn as upkeep). Want to stay high NW? Pay more oil upkeep. This works like alliance costs.
