Could some of you math geeks post the various proofs on infinity divided by infinity?

Its an old buddy from my high school quiz bowl team.
Thought it'd be fun to drop a few equations in on his question:)

Thanks,

Servant

You can choose your answer.
2=1
or
undefined

infinity/infinity=1 is equal to 2=1

Little known fact... The Universe is in perpetual state of colapsing into itself but since it was roundhouse kicked by Chuck Norris, it just orbits itself.... you can thank Chuck by buying his movies... and tv show.

lim x->infinity: (x^2 + 7x)/(2x-1)
=infinity/infinity
l'hospitals rule: (2x+7)/2)
= infinity

or like...

Lim (x->0): (1+x)^(1/x) = L
ln(L) = (1/x)ln(1+x)
ln(L) = 0*infinity
ln(L) = (ln(1+x))/x = 0/0
l'hospitals rule: ln(L) = (1/1+x)/1
ln(L) = 1
L = e
1^infinity=e

infinity*0, infinity/infinity, 0/0 are all undefined (as well as infinity itself) so yeah, 2!=1 unless you assume infinity/infinity = 1. which is not always true

"infinity/infinity" is undefined because there are different types and sizes of infinity.

For example the number of integers is "infinite" but so is all rational numbers. There are more rational numbers than integers hence one infinity is larger than the other:P

That is not quite true. There are just as many rational numbers as integers, and those two infinities are equal size.

The set of real numbers and set of rational numbers are of different sizes, but the set of rational numbers and the set of integers are of equal size.

You are correct, though, that division between infinite numbers is not well defined.

Here I was thinking servant wanted all of us to be his friends on face book to impress his buddy with all his schmart friends.
now to impress him go to western union site they give you a gauge of how international you are on facie book.
