Calling all supporters of democracy( not democrats) take your money out of the big business commercial banking vaults and move them to your local credit unions. This is your vote, vote either way, just know why you are doing so. I am doing so in solidarity with the occupiers of wall street, I am of the 99, as diverse as we 99 are we have common needs and cannot bear the excessive workload and pressures of a skewed capitalism as individuals, it is a collective problem that a corporation has been given personhood and can trample over our rights. we as individuls will bear too much pressure just trying to make it comfortably, and in doing so we may find we have left too large of a detrimental dent as we'd like in our ecosystems and local economies on top of a crumbling family unit. (my fam has suffered due to my absence in trying to provide financially) we must come together on what we agree on(the fact is we have alot in common) and its time each of us exercise our power locally with our neighbors, to get our city counsel to pass ordinances that address local problems. the power that is supposed to be inherent in the people has been divided and conquered by greed, it is still inherent in us, but where are we? Divided among ourselves over fear of personal safety and religous beliefs etc, the red herrings ,gays, drugs blah blah. Alot on our plates but this nov we can at least do the small act of moving our accounts out of the big businesses that do not share our economical interests

Sounds like a commie to me. Dude, im already in a credit union but if i wasnt id not join for you panks. We dont want or need socialism here in America. You are not 99% you are 1%. America is a little right of center and you far left retards are only hurting your cause. This distraction will not keep Americans from voting Obama out of office. He is by far the WORST president we have ever had. I admit, i had high hopes for him but he has destroyed our country and break neck speed. Our only hope for saving America is getting rid of him.

Retarded people like you will only make the republicans who get elected move even further right. We dont need that. We need someone a little right of center. Get over yourself. You are not occupiers or heros- you are loafers, loosers, and criminals.

Im not rich, i am in a Labor union. And i am not with you loosers. Obama and the rest of the Democratic party has moved WAY TOO FAR LEFT>. What happened to freedom?

Its not about left or right anymore. Its not about Capitalism, fascism or socialism.

It is becoming about what is right, and fair to all people.

The v for vendetta reference that the op made aside, it is important that you do what you can for what you believe in. If you believe that too big to fail is against capitalism, and that large banks shouldnt be able to leverage your small balances/pensions 27:1 then move your money.

If you are happy with the current success of your local financial institutions then stay with them.

I'd like to point out that "a corporation has been given personhood and can trample over our rights" happened over Obama's reign. That part is way wrong. I am not sure why the Dems made that happen and also i don't know why they are for NAFTA and other "free trade" agreements that just send jobs to other countries as they don't have so much gov regulation there/ thus making it cheaper to make goods there.

1819. His reign was/is longer than Queen Victoria's! Holy crap!

I think what you're referring to is the more complicated legal loophole which allows corporations to do fancy accounting to mislead workers/shareholders, donate unlimited money to political campaigns, and do other unsavory things. That's been going on for... I guess 192 years! Obama's been somewhat dissapointing (but it's not like McCain would have the nation booming again...) but blaming that on Obama is ridiculous.

The part about corps trampling over our rights happening over Obamas reign is inaccurate.. I actually happened during the raegan<sp Era when they first got ridda the regulations... it just took this long for them to stretch the loop holes wide enough for them and their friends to get in on the action.

Dear Deer,

I want to send you some literature and a dictionary. I've noticed that your vocabulary limitations are detrimental to functional communication. I feel that if you learned a few new words then you would not have to classify everything within the narrow limitations of 'commie', 'socialism', 'democrat' and 'republican'.

Also it would help you recognize that none of aforementioned words are interchangeable with 'loafers', 'loosers', 'retards' and 'criminals'.

You can send me your address or phone # in prvt if you wish.

Love,
oats

You should have your money in a local credit Union anyway, they pay higher Interest on your account even if it seems an insignificant difference, and offer anything that the larger banks offer as far as services.

And regulations have been becoming loosened for years, and the Courts have not helped either.

But just a thought: if we didn't reattach the Banks with the Financial sector and undue most of the regulations in place since the Great depression would we be in the mess we are now?

Then the Bush tax cuts that un-did us actually paying off our debt, and going back to the Great drive toward bankruptcy, yes, I realize their was more towards the stupidty like the mass spending on new prescriptions plan for elderly, and expanding medicaid to cover more people, and yes 2 wars that had to be payed for. But hmmm if we undid the whole last 10 years oF Stupidity we would have close to a balanced budget right now even with the over 9% unemployment. And yes O'Bummer needs to go just wish their was someone running Worth Voting For, instead of getting the vote just to get rid of him. After all O only won cause People Voted to get rid of Bush, who wasn't /couldn't run and was leaving regardless.

As far as other problems like free trade, It works on paper , but not in reality as there is no such thing as free trade when we are not using the same Currency and Not living with the same rules and regulations, and enforcement of the same. what we currently have is nothing more then another set of rules bought by a select group to help themselves to expand their own wealth.

There's nothing I can say to persuade you since u don't understand the bigger picture beyond democrat and republican, nor do u sound ready to get out of your comfort zone and get to know people you may disagree with, and I am sorry u are so against what may be leftist but I am not trying to divide and confuse the earth comunnity as is the trend in mainstream media(fux news) so just ignore my thread here, I am just a pank as you had put it, but when u are ready to work with others who may be different, for the betterment of everyone, ppl like me will be ready to work with u, we r on the same side, the top wealth holders live in another universe as far as the 99 are concerned. I can understand your dissapointment with obama, I wasnt dissapointed. My personal belief is that change has to come from the bottom up, not top down.

Pang what i was referring to when i spoke about corporations under Obumer was that they can now donate to political campaigns as if they were people. The rules for that changed under Obumer. I wish i knew the exact but i don't want to misquote the new rules.

I totally agree with Oceana. Great points. I feel completely crappy about not being able to support anyone. Instead i will vote for the person most able to defeat Obumer.

It is sad to see the Republicans taking Americas disgust with Obama as support to move further to the right. We seem to be going from one polar extreme to the other. Every time it just makes things worse. None of them get it cause they are all part of that 1%.

DH: Are you referring to Citizen's United? The Supreme Court case that struck down the governments ability to prevent unlimited political spending by corporations?

http://en.wikipedia.org/...deral_Election_Commission

Just checking since that was a right-side organization that fought for the unlimited access, a Bush solicitor general who argued for the corporation and a Clinton solicitor general who argued against it to uphold the limits on corporate spending on politics?

The fact that the Supreme Court decided the case during Obama's term is completely irrelevant. The President does not control the Supreme Court. His (or her someday) only check on the SC is on who is put forward for confirmation.

So you can argue that the Supreme Court was wrong, or that Congress was wrong for not going back and passing a constitutional Amendment to clarify the intent... But you cannot blame Obama.

ya, the Republicans have been playing obstructionist politics since before Obama even took office. you don't need to be left or right leaning to see that... they have outright said their #1 focus winning elections, not actually solving problems.

"The Senate Republicans of the 111th Congress again broke the record for the number of filibusters in a session, passing 100 cloture votes in the first eleven months."

first, get a huge document passed by congress, later to have parts of it be found to be unconstitutional. (health care)

next, why go through congress when you can just do things on your own? (lybia)

hell, violate the war powers resolution while you're at it. (not seeking congressional approval to continue past a certain point. again, lybia)

on top of everything else, how about signing an international treaty as an executive order. (ACTA)

is there any other executive power abuse i'm missing from the last couple years? if so, I apologize for citing these from memory as the big ones.

Keep fighting amongst yourselves, your accomplishing nothing...

Just like the sit in's and protests, the moving of money from the banks, and any other protest anyone is doing to try change the current financial situation.

There is only one resolution, one option you have to save your country and mine (New Zealand). That option is to fight. Rise up against the oppression of your people and fight those power hungry bastards. Oh also this will mean the governments can spend money on military, everyone knows that war = money for dirty people ready to take advantage, so its a win win, you fight, you die, you boost your economy back to a sustainable position, WHO IS WITH ME!!!

It is also worth noting for our friend Deerhunter:

The citizensunited case did NOT make it so that corporations can donate to political campaigns unfethered etc.

It made it so that corporations, unions, and other private groups can pay to run their own politically motivated advertising, including endorsements for candidates.

the protests are not about Jobs and taking down big business'ss's's.. they are more about Regulation of the banks, and keeping corperate money from getting into the Political voting.. specially when people try and create corperations to hide who they really are from the public... it gets pretty sickning sometimes... the least the protests could accomplish is Regulating the banks like they were after the Great Depression.

The occupy protests haven't really focused on one particular issue, which is why it is hard to listen to them as they are so unfocused.

One day they are talking about banking regulation, the next they are talking about wealth inequity etc. They need to figure out what it is they are trying to accomplish...

I agree the unions are greedy and it's exactly the kind of BS pendulum that needs to effing stop. Why did unions come about? Because big business got greedy first and abused child labor and lack of regulation to ill effect which resulted in monopolies and massively wealthy tycoons and a monstrous wealth divide. So trusts were busted and unions came about. Then unions realized the power of the strike and political pressure and went way too far in the other direction. Now that the job market is so weak it's like CEOs are acting like it's their turn once again to go too far in the opposite direction.
