If I remember correctly, the key difference (other than total members) was SoF made countries ready to peak on day 1 of the war. ECM made countries which were good countries for the FS, but also kept more countries in reserve who were unattractive to target at the start of the war, but their production made up for the breakers we killed. With the member disadvantage adding to that, we didn't have hope.
Really fun war though! I hope SOL can do the same thing with someone next round.
