Havoc - New Year's Eve 2001-->2002 in Miami FL. 4 shows, 28th -31st. George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic showed up on the 30th, and the 31st was one of the most mind-blowing musical spectacles I've ever seen in my life! Shows on the 28th and 29th were pretty awesome too! I also saw them at Harmony Park in MN, and at Alpine Valley in WI....although those shows are a bit more of a....blur.

Detmer - How were Presidents???? I always wanted to see them!

gambit - Was AAF as awesome as I assume it would be?

Presidents were awesome. I saw them shortly after Love Everybody was released. It was Dawg Daze at the University of Washington and they were playing in front of the student union before Fall quarter started. Harvey Danger was playing with them. Due to the festival nature of the performance (open air stage, etc) I can't attest to what their other concerts are like, but they were very excited to be playing and very positive. (I contrast this to Harvey Danger who was cool, but aside from Cream and Bastards Rise and Flagpole Sitta (which they didn't want to play but was demanded by the crowd) they just weren't that cool. They were very cool though and started mixing Flag Pole Sitta with some President's stuff which was very hilarious.))

But yes, Presidents were great live. Fun between songs. Very easy to hear (unlike, say, Nirvana, where Kurt Cobain is unintelligible outside of the studio). I know I have seen a few other real bands in this sort of environment, but Presidents is the only group that stood out to me such that I can really remember them). (I have never been a big concert goer).... ah yes... for example Third Eye Blind played at FreakFest in Madison but that was unmemorable for me.

OMG! Harvey Danger! I forgot all about them! Saw them at a festival like 8 or 10 yrs ago. Not quite amazing, but I was hammered enough that it was a pretty fun show :-)

That's awesome that you saw Presidents - They've been on my list since HS.

Forgot a few more I gotta add:

Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Reel Big Fish
Tracy Bonham
Bloodhound Gang
Crash Test Dummies (not by choice)
Leah Andreone
Darko Nikvevic and Srdjan Bulatovic
AC/DC (Angus flew over my head!)
Charlotte Church
RHCP @ First Ave. in Mpls. - was so close I coulda pulled Flea's sock off.

braden - only music I say no to is balkan pop. Other than that, it's all good.

I LOVE nerd rock though! AAF, Weezer, Dinosaur Jr., N.E.R.D, Bloodhound Gang, They Might Be Giants, w/e. Besides, Weezer is from when I WAS in HS - so I figure I'm good there.

NOW3P - Best show ever, really. I saw the HIStory world tour at Wembley in London, just before I moved back to Canada. HUGE doesn't begin to cover it... and the dancing was incredible. I liked his stuff, but wasn't a huge fan - but I gained a whole new respect for him after seeing him live.

Garth Brooks was also an AMAZING show - saw him at Croke Park in Dublin, with about 50K other people. If you look very carefully in one of his videos, I can be seen about 3 rows back from centre stage. I pulled out all my good Alberta cowgirl gear for that one. *chuckle*
