If so, Earth started in October 1996 as stated by Kingme. There are mentions of a new reset of Earth: 2025 starting on this page http://archive.omgn.com/nexus/?p=582 on 02/23/98.

I discovered Earth because Mehul put the solariagames.net URL into BRE and advertised it there. BRE was around since at least 1993. And I think that timeframe would put it pretty far back, 1997 at the latest I think, based on when BRE got abandoned.

Probably a techer, yeah could've been a lot higher with a theo destock or the demo +6% commish knocked off.

Ah I was fooling around a monarch lol so fluffty to play. I actually missed sat nights sales cause I went out. Had I sold tech sat night and never unloaded on Sunday morning I could have shot up another 1-2m networth. But this set most definitely was a great set for techers.

tech prices were insane... not even a commie could compete and mil prices were great for commie as well

Actually tech prices weren't insane. They were stable at around 2000-2400 throughout which is what a techer needs. You guys have just got used to cheap tech for far too long :)

Just to add, when tech prices are good, no other strat can really compete because cheap tech is what allows these other strats to maximize their finish

This entire thread has become pointless. It's slowly but surely being dominated by cheaters.

Very soon every top 5 in each government will be filled by DR abusing nubs.

Kinda feel bad for oldman. Had to be quite a bit of effort to start this and look at what it's become.

Sorry oldman. I know you put your back into creating this. It's a pity what it has become.

Lets just hope this gets fixed soon so oldman doesn't have to go through the pain of that occasional dreaded update.

It has been exactly 4 months since this NW record thread was created. I remember the buzz it generated back in December when it first started. It even added new vocabulary to the earth empire community - words such as '30M club', '40M club' etc.

But, what started as just an innocent thread to document the networth records, may have indirectly landed the game in today's state. We are mostly people who like numbers else we wouldn't be playing this game. So I should have imagined records chasing would be the eventual result of this thread. True enough, we've people trying to break records every set and I must say that makes the game more interesting and gives people one more reason to play a specific government over the others.

The first 2-3 months went by pretty well, with maybe a hiccup or 2 in between, and it was mostly fun and new records were broken almost every week. There were congratulations flying around and people sought higher grounds, aiming to break the records others have just broken. There was healthy competition. However, the last month or so had seen plays, which had drawn resentment from the general EE community. Known and identified tactics were exploited to get into the 30M club. Though it's not cheating, I find it hard to continue updating the networth records as it goes against my own principle of fair play.

As such, after careful considerations, I've decided to end this thread. I shall update it no longer until the game is fixed.

If you would like to start a new one, you're welcome to take the existing data and create a new thread.

You are a better man than I am oldman, I wouldn't have bothered with an explanation.

People need to just start policing this sort of thing. With the admins officially having taken up a DR fix, abusing DR is now abusing an "exploit." It therefore follows that it is cheating that warrants deletion.

The difficulty is the judgment call involved in deciding whether the DR is intentional cheating or just something that happened to happen to the player. I'm sensitive to that. But let's be honest, this round it was simply obvious, and it's better to be brave enough to wade in there and make deletions than to just ignore it and let cheaters rule and ruin the game.

And for players as well, don't let the tduongs out there bully you into submission with 'whiner' insults and the like. As a community, we can keep tracking records and just omit the people that clearly abused the game. Maybe there will be a debate down the road about a grey-looking case but this set isn't one of them.

Well done crest a nice legit record again. Im glad you posted in this thread, md had the demo record for a long time. It will be nice when express is fixed and we all come back and start playing it again.
