It's a really easy fix right now, actually. Give him what he wants now, then in 6-7 years re-structure the deal when he's on the decline. I'm not stupid enough to think he'll be playing MVP-caliber ball in ten years, let alone 6 or 7. He's still got five years left of that, plus probably three more above average. Right now, he is definitely worth that $30 mil/year.
Hell, even Holliday is saying to take $2 mil off his contract every year to sign Pujols. Scott Boras probably had a stroke when he said that.
