@ Ebert00
0 top 10s; but, this is my 4th set. How many top 10's do you have with a dictator with all the sets you've played?

@ Kingme
I say it's a perfect example because he spent:
7 turns to attack
14 turns to build (assuming 70 BPT)

And it took only 2 turns to take all that away. Granted one of the targets he bottom-feeded wasn't one of his targets, but my point is that bottom feeding just doesn't seem to be profitable on EXPRESS. If players are at the bottom it's either because they're inexperienced or plan to jump later. If you're (removed) always at top your expenses are higher, thus those players you're bottom-feeding will eventually jump and get in their retal but with significantly higher gains.

Don't get me wrong- I'm not saying bottom-feeding shouldn't be used as a strategy. I'm merely presenting an argument as to why I believe it's not profitable. As Ebert mentioned before, his method works & he has proof with his results. I have no results as of yet. I do know one thing, there are significantly more dictators this set. And that places a smile on my face.

Further example:

PS Jul 24, 11:55 Forsaken (#92) Seven of Nine (#20) 120 A
PS Jul 24, 14:06 Indrid Cold (#74) Seven of Nine (#20) 164 A
PS Jul 24, 15:43 DeathFromAbove (#4) Seven of Nine (#20) 102 A
PS Jul 24, 16:44 Bodega Bay (#110) Seven of Nine (#20) 284 A
PS Jul 25, 04:54 Seven of Nine (#20) DeathFromAbove (#4) 693 A
PS Jul 25, 13:07 Seven of Nine (#20) Indrid Cold (#74) 1026 A
PS Jul 25, 15:26 Seven of Nine (#20) Bodega Bay (#110) 927 A

This is the method I'm referring to. If more players did this- bottom-feeding wouldn't occur as much. Only retal land. At least on EXPRESS.

Let the bashing continue......

Just FYI... Whenever you attack someone more than x2 (successful or not) your GDI protection from that country becomes disabled. There are several people I see in the news feed that you attacked more than x2. Regrettably, it was bound to happen eventually. Good luck on your next set.

I feel your pain Kizami. Four sets ago I had two suiciders attack me on turn #103. Ever since that set, I now click the advisor tab like 100000x to make sure I don't break 100 turns w/o joining GDI. Which country were you Kiz? I hope you weren't Smelly Feets......

Outrunning hits would be difficult, but certainly possible.

I made an error. MSTRAT at 130% was incorrect. It's 120% which takes about 10 turns of teching.
I don't delay start, I just batch xplore early to be landfat. Greedy players LG me for 100-200A each. Perfect retal targets for later.

I could be wrong, but it seems players in heavy DR, who make recent LGs give 'good' returns. Bottom feeding seems pointless to me on EXPRESS. You have to hit several targets to get 1k land. In all likeliness, one of those countries you hit, will get their retal in, equal to all those bottomfeeding LGs.

Country A attacks Country B for 130A.

One day later.

Country B has 130% military strategy, is smaller net than Country A, and maximizes jet potential to retal Country A for 900A.

Result. Country B gains x7 returns and Country A can't RoR unless he wants to risk being flattened. (2x attacks = break of GDI)

Not a lot of grabbing; but, enough to meet my goal of top 10.

And I say there's a lot of techers because tech prices for BUS / RES have been 2400+ the past 3-4 sets. This is first time I've seen it drop to 2000 this early in set.

@Mrford
I didn't consider the liquidation concept; however, I don't see when liquidation would be of urgency on the Express server. On other servers, I would have to agree that the ability to liquidate and wall against special attacks would be very useful. Also, on the Express server, I rarely see RES/BUS/IND under $2400; whereas it seems food fluctuates far more between 32-50 depending on how many D play. Dont you think farmers are more dependent on market than techers?

@Tella
So then my conclusion is correct when I say a farmer must have at least 31% more land than any techer to compete.

Disclaimer:
Yes, I'm sure I'll be accused of taking a snapshot of a situation; but, I cannot see where the flaw in my logic is. I'm hoping someone points it out.

========================================================================================================

Question:
At what point is it possible for a farmer with max tech to outproduce a techer with equal land? Answer: Under extreme market prices.

Conclusion:
Even with max agri tech, farmers MUST have at least apprx 31% more land than the techer. (To make techer @ $1800/per tech & food @ 38 to be approx. even)

========================================================================================================

Two formulas:

TechPerTurn=Round(0.17*Labs*(1+Labs/Land)+3,0)
Food Production=(Farms * 5.3) + (Unused Acres*0.4) * GovFoodBonus * AgriTech

Terms used:

TPT (TechPerTurn)

================================================================================================================

Scenario 1:
Land Size: 5250A
Govt: M
Strategy: Techer
Labs: 5000

Land Size: 5250A
Govt: M
Strategy: Farmer
Farms: 5000

==========================================================================================================

Calculations:
TechPerTurn=Round(0.17*Labs*(1+Labs/Land)+3,0)
TPT = Round(0.17*5000*(1+5000/5250)+3)
TPT = 1663

Food Production=(Farms * 5.3) + (Unused Acres*0.4) * GovFoodBonus * AgriTech
Food Production = (5000 * 5.3) + (0*0.4) * 1 * 2.3
Food Production = 60,950

================================================================================================================

Note: 6% Market Commission omitted on both.

Variables:
Market prices -

TPT = 1663
Tech @ 1800 * 1663 = 2993400
Tech @ 2000 * 1663 = 3326000
Tech @ 2200 * 1663 = 3658600
Tech @ 2400 * 1663 = 3991200
Tech @ 2600 * 1663 = 4323800
Tech @ 2800 * 1663 = 4656400
Tech @ 3000 * 1663 = 4989000

Food Production = 60,950
Food @ 38 * 60,950 = 2316100
Food @ 40 * 60,950 = 2438000
Food @ 42 * 60,950 = 2559900
Food @ 44 * 60,950 = 2681800
Food @ 46 * 60,950 = 2803700
Food @ 48 * 60,950 = 2925600
Food @ 50 * 60,950 = 3047500

============================================================================================================

Observation:

Using same amount of land, a techer is making considerably more of an income per turn.
With tech market prices @ 1800 and food prices @ 50 the techer makes a greater income per turn.

============================================================================================================

Other considerations:
May only place 1/4th of tech on market.

Turn 1:
TPT = 1663
1663 / 4 = 415.75
415 can only go on market; however, consider the following.

Calculation:
1663(TPT) - 415(market) = 1248(kept)

==================
415 market | 1248 kept
==================

Turn 2:
TPT = 1663
1663 + 1248 = 2911 (kept amount + teched amount)
2911 / 4 = 727 market
2911 - 727 = 2184 (Remaining tech)

Turn 3:
TPT = 1663
1663 + 2184 = 3847
3847 / 4 = 961 (On market)
3847 - 961 = 2886 (Remaining tech)

Turn 4:
TPT = 1663
1663 + 2886 = 4549
4549 / 4 = 1137 (On market)
4549 - 1137 = 3412 (Remaining tech)

Turn 5:
TPT = 1663
1663 + 3412 = 5075
5075 / 4 = 1268 (On market)
5075 - 1268 = 3807 (Remaining tech)

Turn 6:
TPT = 1663
1663 + 3807 = 5470
5470 / 4 = 1367 (On market)
5470 - 1367 = 4103 (Remaining tech)

Turn 7:
TPT = 1663
1663 + 4103 = 5766
5766 / 4 = 1442 (On market)
5766 - 1442 = 4324 (Remaining tech)

Observation:
As turns accumulate the '1/4 penalty' grows smaller.

===========================================================================================================

One extra note on F Govt
Food Production=(Farms * 5.3) + (Unused Acres*0.4) * GovFoodBonus * AgriTech
Food Production = (5000 * 5.3) + 0 * 1.15 * 2.3
FP = 70,092
Food @ 50: 70,092 * 50 = 3504600

Compared to:
Tech @ 2000 * 1663 = 3326000
Tech @ 2200 * 1663 = 3658600

Where did you get that number?

I got the 7600A # using logic and the explore chart.
Consider my 5 points:

1. If you plan to switch to a dictator you want to stay monarch as long as possible to maximize building capabilities.

2. Batch exploring is the fastest way to expand your land in the fewest amount of turns pre 1920A; however, since there's a max population penalty in the beginning, it's actually better to spiral up in acres pre 1920A. (And to be more accurate the penalty is NOT based on acres reaching 1920A but rather 80% of population).

3. Before 1920A you receive 45A per turn up to apprx 40-45 turns which will get you to 3800A. From there you can either attack or batch explore again. It seems more logical to batch again, since the returns by attacking at 1900A-3800A would be rather small. (I don't understand the logic of attacking pre-3800A since most attacks take 2 turns and they typically give 90-100A which is about the same from exploring w/ no unit loss).

4. Remember- on express you can only hit once or you'll risk get flattened- so it seems like a better approach to save those 1 hits for when batch explore returns are too small to be efficient. (The Express server has a small population, so I believe it's better to save targets near the end of the set rather than for the beginning.)

5. Since Express has approx 1850-1900 turns, it seems illogical to use 506 turns to go from 7600A to 15200A. That only leaves one option to increase land after 7600A & that's through attacking.

Thus, @ 7600A, in my opinion, I believe is the appropriate time to switch from monarch to dictator on the EXPRESS server.

F gov't probably has it worse of them all. Warring ability sucks and their netting ability is so so; but, on Express it really doesn't matter if you're a warring country or not; because you really can't do ANYTHING unless someone attacks you x2.

Yes. I agree it's harder for sure. That's why I want to do it. Honestly, I don't see the enjoyment of making top 10 as a H, R, or D; but, that's just my opinion.

My goal isn't achieving t10. It's achieving t10 with dictator. In my opinion- that's the most challenging way to play this game. I understand the gov't dictator doesn't compare to the REAL netting gov't; but, I think using their indirect netting abilities, dictators can become a hybrid of the two. Besides, on Express, it's really whomever is crazy enough to attack x2 will basically lose on the spot if the retaller so do wishes it.

I can see dictator's bonuses contributing to netting in an indirect way.

Military bonus allows:
1. You get LG'd less (Which means you don't lose turrets (NW) or tech points (NW) when getting attacked.
2. Use lose fewer planes (NW) when attacking.
3. Use less oil (NW) when attacking.
4. Top feeding which give significantly larger gains. (NW)
5. Smaller military needed on hand (fewer expenses per turn) (NW)

Spy bonus allows:
1. Bomb banks, which enabled me to steal 9 million a turn (against a player who stockpiles). (NW)
2. Espionage, great returns, expandable to steal more than any TPT (NW)
3. Finding softer targets when attacking, which maximizes ghost acres and prevents oversending (NW)

Construction drawback remedy:
1. Target countries of similar build to capture buildings and ensure your military strategy is near 140%.

Extra note:
If weapons tech is 20% your military has the strength of a non-dictator's PS, which allows massive gains in attacking without the 2hr drawback. (For an example, it takes 141 turns to batch explore from 3800 to 7600. Using this bonus a dictator can achieve 3800 acres in 20 turns. (approx 400A per SS attack which isnt too difficult if you factor in the ghost acres).

i still dont see where you getting a top 10 with a dict would be proving me wrong. doesnt make it a good netting steategy, and you misunderstood what i ment by super player. i ment super attentive to their country. anyone who spends the time to calc and log in 30 times a day can get a t10 with any country. even cereberus probably could. super active, not super skilled.

so what statment that i made would you be proving me wrong by making a t10. pertty sure i never made any statments to be proved wrong here. but whatever motivation you need.

Does everyone agree with Mrford's opinion, that anyone can make t10 with any country if they're super active? (Super active defined as 30x a day).

Express ONLY question:
Does bomb banks x2 break GDI like SS/PS x2 does?

For an example,

The current rule works like so:
Country A is in GDI and Country B is in GDI. Country A attacks Country B with two SS. Country B is now able to commit AB/GS/BR/missiles and other spy ops on Country A.

My question is:
Country A is in GDI and Country B is in GDI. Country A bomb banks Country B two times. Does this enable Country B to commit AB/GS/BR/missiles on Country A?

Sweet. Thanks for the explanation.

How do I get the unit prices? Do I simply do 210 (base turret PM price) x .85 (if your military tech is 85%?)

Care to elaborate? The formula is a bit confusing to me.

I know you can simply do land*40 to get max military tech %.

But say if I have 7600 acres, how many tech points would I need to get 35$ bushels?

Using your formula above and website that you provided I'm guessing it's....

Tech% = 100+(83.33-100)*1*(1-^(-1*Techpts/(780+5.75*7600)))

I'm not sure how this gives me Techpts or Tech%.

Anyone have the PM prices with max Military Tech (non-theo & NO MB)?

Also what % of tech per acre to get 35$ per bushel on PM for non-demo.

I want the high end #, not low end. (For example if 200k gives 35$ and 150k gives 35$ I want the 150k figure).

Thanks.

You'll *likely* never do it as a Dict, especially with your current strategy. I know you're not a fan of mrford or his attitude but he happens to be right about the strategy not working.

I'd suggest focusing less on that land total, and more about optimization in other aspects of the game. It's quite easy to get ~20m with an all-explore Rep Casher these days. It would be much less work too.

Thanks for the feedback. I do want to make top 10, but as a dictator. To me, it wouldn't seem that gratifying to make top 10 as a R/D/H. I'm certainly not taking away that achievement. It's just my goal. I know primary is vastly different from express, but I noticed a player name Oldman made #1 as a dictator farmer. Any ideas how he did it?

I will take your advice on focusing on developing a smaller amount of land. I get the consensus that my tech levels are way too low (and should be maximized) before expanding my land. I will focus on that. Thanks again.
