48 is probably about right regardless of the turns. Any less would not give players who play odd hours a chance, much more turns it into a race to see who can up up the most and both countries end up worse off.

its both ways if other alliances agree to that policey. if our policey is 72 hours.....

well i have 72 hours. why would other alliances change their policey unless they think 48 hours is better? you just force every alliance to comply with this.

because it makes sense as a policy, based on the turn rate and changes to the game

it's a good policy, and it's met with approval from most people, or at least with indifference.

if you'd like to retal LaF hits between 48 and 72 hrs and claim it as retals, that's your prerogative... but I expect it will cause a situation where reps from each alliance will get involved.

imo 72 hrs just is too many now. thats 234 turns. thats just rediculous. 48 is a great balance between turns and RL time. if there is some kind of circumstance where the agressor is way into dr for whatever reason, i'm positive laf's FR's would talk and work something out. i mean, i know pang eats children, but come on g=) this is earth!

it used to be 1 turn/40 minutes, so 36 +6 bonus/18 for 42

and at that time i think it was 2 turns for clicking ads and 1 turn for clicking the feed the hungry thing

that means 45*3=135 turns

so 135/234=57.69%

[135/235]*72=41.53 hours

RL issues.

Wild college parties, internet crash, computer crash, family drive for vacation, business meeting on anouther continent, drive home from school, major study weekend, marriage issues, hospitalization, family member hospitalization, child ran away from home, weekend in the slammer, power outage, work emergency, waking up in the desert after a wild party, blowing your cash in vegas and having to bus it home, etc.

72 hours gives more time for someone to take retals when they have a real life emergency. It's not just about the ability to retal with the country, it's with RL issues as well. A lot of people get busy on the weekend and won't always be logging on.
With the site just starting up again, and with the facebook part starting up to recruit new players, the site's going to have a lot of players who aren't as dedicated as the ones here now. Rather than imposing harsher, smaller retal periods, we should be ensuring that the new players will be able to balance their real life with the game, and thus ensure that they will continue to play rather than quit out of frustration.

the 72hr retal window was first brought into effect due to swirve's ingame news only tracking the last 72hrs, meaning anything after could not be proven ingame as being in retaliation to a hit made, if I'm remembering correctly.. its been a very long time since that notion was brought into effect.. can another oldie confirm?

Problem is that won't really work.

Back in the old days, when we had tons of members per clan, we could create retal teams and have them take care of it easily.

But when you have a clan of say 17 people, it's not so easy. You're going to have probably 1 leader and 1 FA, monitoring such things.
Day 1, they would wait for the country to get on.
Day 2, with random attack times and log in times, there's a good chance you're looking at hour 33-36 before they check again, they're finally deciding to take the retal for you. That gives a few hours to take the retal. Given the strats and times of set, there's a good chance the FA won't be able to take the retal, which means they need to find someone else who is on, with enough mil to take the retal.

That in itself could cause lost retals, but then add into effect something like a triple tap, and you're trying to organize quite a few retals within the span of a few hours.
That's going to be hard to do against a clan twice your size, or more, since you'll suffer quite a few more attacks.

The point is that it's a lot more difficult to co-ordinate a retal for someone else when you've only got a few hours, your clan is hit quite often, and you've only got a dozen or so members, with some of them likely inactive.
It's not impossible, but it's more difficult and could cause the loss of retals.

[EDIT: Kind of covering some of the same ground as the last guy] Locket, to play devil's advocate, if the people doing retals are in a significantly smaller clan consistently being farmed... Well, there are only so many retals the entire alliance is going to be able to perform in a 24 hour period. Its not just a matter of being able to get enough jets to break, the retallers need to try to come out ahead to discourage further hits against them. The amount of time your troops are out on a PS hasn't changed.

In short, LaF is already getting heat for being a big bully. Policies like this aren't going to help improve your image.

And rpottage, have more then 2 people monitor it for 1 thing if possible. Arrange on day 1 for someone to take it if it isn't taken by a certain time. Have 2-3 active people playing different strats who are retallers. Different strats since they each have their own peaks as to when they are good. It only involves some preplanning and having a group of 3-4 people with good jet counts allied together and at least one of them around. You could do the retals like neofed did even.

i like the idea cause thats 24 less hours you have to worry if theyre gonna take the retal lol.

however its not so ideal for say a triple tap where it might take more then 1 country to take all the retals. i think 48 for 1-2 hits and 72 for anything more. just thinking out loud.

LaF is enforcing a policy which we believe would enhance our member's playing experience while being fair to others.

I don't know why you people are complaining! This also works in reverse. Meaning, that if you grab LaF they only have 48 hours to retal you!

72 hours is just too long anyways. I mean as it stands its almost impossible to prevent a retal.
