Ur kinda forgetting about the tobacco road rivalry where the 2 schools are only 8 miles apart and one of them is the oldest public university in the united states

I hate both teams but my vote for greatest football rivalry is Auburn x Alabama. Think, these people live and work together because it is instate. Meanwhile, there is nothing else of note about the state of Alabama sports wise. I mean, NOTHING. This makes the fans even that much more obsessed about their team of choice and that much more passionate about the rivalry.

Fordy, yes, but at its best college basketball fans never match even mid level college football.

Been living here in Charlotte for going on 4 years now. Been to "the game" twice. Iron Bowl tops it without it putting up that much of a fight.

hmmm. i didn't find auborn/alabama to be as extreme as ohio st/michigan or even byu/utah. dook/unc is definately huge too. but we're talking football here!

Down in Rock Hill to be exact, I just usualy say Charlotte so people will know where I am =P

I have not gotten a chance to see a game up at the RBC Center yet, really need to find time for that. I was supose to be there when Florida went up there last year but I ended up working too late. Damn shame, hell of an end to the game: http://www.youtube.com/...04WZE&feature=related

I will say that for pure out hate NC-Duke does rate pretty damn high. What I think hurts it vs either Albama vs Auburn or Ohio St vs Michigan (aside from the whole football vs basketball issue) is that they play at least twice any given year and could play again if the stars align. That never happens for the Iron Bowl and historically not for Ohio St vs Michigan.
