It's the alliance aspect that kept it going, not the gameplay, which always had frustrating errors.

I met Mehul at a strip club once more than 10 years ago. I was selling blow and he was tossing dirty bills at the bar lady, soaked in white rum and carrying around a McDonalds paper bag that looked like it was holding nothing but raw meat patties in it. I sold him some gear and he tried to pay me in meat. We had a punch up in the parking lot over it and he won. He did a line off of my forehead and walked back into the strip club, yelling "Damn it feels good to be a gangsta!" at the top of his lungs.

I stalked off to get some food and found myself at a McDonalds. The poor teenager working that night was in the middle of the restaurant, mopping up the remains of a huge, watery, explosive turd. "What the fluff happened here?" I asked him.

"We got Mehuled" came his sad, sullen reply.

I actually went to Mehul's original coffee shop about 12-13 years ago. He wasn't there, it was kinda kitchy and sad. If Diamond Dog left death threats on my answering machine because the server went down during a FS, I'd probably have sold out to Jolt too.
