If you use SLING TV, I have a question for you.

Do you think that SLING TV has too many commercials?

I have recently signed up for it, figuring it would save me a ton of money every month vs Comcastrophe's fees for their "X1 Entertainment" plan, and it is a lot cheaper. However, I look at my bill, and then at the huge number of commercials that run on SLING's system and I wonder just how much money they are making since they appear to be loading the system with many minutes of commercials that they get paid for, in addition to the fee that I am paying. This is starting to piss me off a bit. I don't mind anyone making a buck, but why do they gotta try to make it off both sides. I have a Hulu account that I subscribe to with NO commercials at all, and it's less expensive than SLING.

Any opinions on this?

The only way to answer is if you know how many minutes of commercials they play per hour. IE, network TV usually plays 17 mins of commercials and ~43 mins of a "hour" long show.

No one should have any subscription based service that has commercials in the internet era.

You're right LI, quantifiable data is much easier to work with for sure.

On a personal note, it feels like they are double-dipping, so to speak. Let's say it's equal to the time that the major networks use to make their money. The SLING TV system just feels like it has more, and that my be something subconscious in my head that is caused by my brain trying to adjust expectations with the fact that I am paying them directly for this service, yet advertising is also paying them to deliver the content to me.

I've also noticed that since SLING is an online streaming service they have linked in with a lot more advertisers online that the major networks would have overlooked, since I see a LOT more local commercials than I am used to seeing on the actual "over the air" networks show. This kind of stuff is going to be the death of the internet and make it much less enjoyable for everyone in the future if it is left unchecked.

I always thought sling just streamed what was playing on regular tv and didn't add any extra commercials?

I did a 30 day trial a year or two ago to get a free roku stick. Seemed pretty good then, but I just don't watch enough tv to care to have it.
