People have forgotten that we are a constitutional republic and allowed this fluff show to happen.
Its the illusion of choice. Trump is the first evidence in my lifetime that American elections are not precisely as pointless as the USSR system. But even then, the only reason he was able to win was because he had fluff you money, so the entire system still alienates most of the population that is paying attention.
Honestly, most people want new voting systems, or more parties or whatever, but the real soluion is dismantling the party system altogether. It's the reason why 'we the people' is not a real thing. The reason I don't think Russia rigged the election or even tried is because Russia deserves a little respect. Russia knows just as well as the DNC that the right way, and maybe only way, to rig an American election is in the primaries. Hell, the DNC knows it so well that they set up their primaries in such a way as to make it easier to rig (less people to pay off).
