lol this brings to mind the 2003/2004 thread from yale forums - 'wearing your collar down is for poor people' or something like that. the original post was satirical and and was intended to poke fun at yuppy douches who popped their collars, but it spawned all sorts of douchey responses from people who thought it was serious. pretty funny stuff

ok, if it's the eighties and you're in miami, you tuck up your arms maybe half way up the forearm.. think miami vice :P

you can pop your collar in that situation, above the neck part of the lapel part of the jacket. but if you are not in the eighties, not in miami, and not fluffing ripped off cocaine, there is no excuse to have your collar popped.

in fact, since you're wearing the collared shirt, i'd suggest a nice tie to go with it. to keep the tie in place, your choice is a tie clip (my choice, thank you, george peppard) or a classy, not flashy tie pin.

Having damaged/deteriorated disc between my 5th + 7th vertebrae, if I am not wearing a tie, I am poping my collar, wearing a scarf and pop every coat/jacket colar that I can. This helps when it is cold or a draft on my back of my neck. This also acts as a security blanket or placebo method to ease pain. I do it thoughout the year with any shirt I wear. Does not need to be a polo shirt.

I really dont care if people think I'm Douchey or not.

Xin, you are popping your collar for purposes other then thinking you're cool and it is a hip thing to do. Therefore, your heart and actions, make you not douchey for popping your collar. E2025 does it because he thinks its cool, therefore, he is a major douche.

I actually heard this explanation made last Summer in Mn....in a conversation amongst some fairly ambitious, well known in the area early 20 males...

One had his collar popped (local actor/thespian type), and was talking to the local young realestate guy making big waves, and asked him his opinion.

Young real estate guy said, "If you pop your collar, you're saying you have game and that you're a player and you're looking..."

I for one tend to think players are douche
so popping = douche
