Since I'm going away for a week starting tomorrow, I'll post this now:

Effective immediately, I'm stepping down as Don which means Enshula will take over as LaF's new Don! Enshula is one of the game's great strategists, with a keen mind for netting strategy. He'll serve LaF well -- much better than I could.

If any of you remember my don-ship announcement, you'll remember it was only going to be until the holidays, after which we'd transition to someone else. Today is that day! :p

Don Enshula will be LaF's new Don and Eugene will step up to take on the role of Political Advisor.

On that same token, I will also be retiring from actively playing (that should make most people happy :D). The reasoning for this is that I'm heading back to school to wrap up my Masters research. To do this, I'm taking time off from work. If I can take time off work, I can most certainly take time off from LaF.


Enshula, Eug and Hanlong will be available for all your LaF needs shortly into the new year. For now I think we're all going to be on vacation, as it's that time of year :p

they're all away until after new years, I'll update the site's contacts then, but if you need to get a hold of them, one usually idles in #earthempires in the EE server and if you're in a pinch for LaF FA, you can stop by our IRC channel (#laf, irc.boxcarhosting.com) but don't get used to it because it's not meant to be a public chan!

I ended up getting my car fixed, so I'm able to go away for new years like I planned...
when I get back, I'll be deep in the masters work (as I'm meeting with my professor on Monday to start get that restarted :-))

retirement vs break? Retirement... I haven't made a thorough post in LaF yet, but I don't see myself having time to do anything more than maybe run an all-x country on this server for the forseeable future. On that same token, there's no other alliance I'd want to play the Alliance server in besides LaF -- and I've played in lots. LaF needs to move on as much as I do :p

Hanlong came back 2 sets ago, and I managed to get him back into leadership at the end of last round :) Hanlong also worked on WoW for Blizzard, so blame him for your WoW addictions.

Eugene is an epicly long time LaFfer... also known as Q_Q, azndisgrace and a variety of other random azn-focused names. He also did missionary work oversees where he got to put his experience using the missionary position to work. (True & hilarious story)

i did not make the game fun, if anything all that downtime that i could potentially have caused for WoW servers would actually serve to decrease you addiction ;)
