I'm biased because I last played when there were like 100 clans and many had 50+ members, but I can barely imagine how diplomacy matters when there are only 5 or 6 clans with more than 5 members. More players would bring some life back to that part of the game, I'd guess. But what do I know, I jumped ship for the past 20 years lol.

Since I'm the new old kid on the block please humor this question that may have been discussed ad nauseum in the past:

Has there been any large organized effort to bring new players to the game? Like an ad campaign, spamming Reddit or other online communities, getting a plug from an appropriate youtuber/influencer etc? It seems like there's a massive pool of 30-50 year olds who would find this game nostalgic even if they never played it or Earth2025.

Anyone know how many bots there are in the alliance server? I'm wondering how many real players there are basically. If I finish top ten I want to know if it's top ten of out 400 real players, or top ten out of 60 real players lol.

I just came back in early May after a "short break". I last played in 2003. :)

I started in TALON in 1998 or 1999, left with a few friends to form Veni Vidi Vici (vVv), which merged with Guerillas in the Mist (GiM) to form Phoenix. Phoenix eventually merged with CNA to form Divine Justice where I played until I dropped off. I did FA work for DJ for a few sets (remember negotiating pacts on ICQ?! LOL).

Damn, I am in the exact same boat. 38, oldest is 13, just started playing this and Diablo 2 again. Am I in crisis mode too? Lol

I think it's because Diablo 4 is coming out next month and 2025 is just around the corner. Your psyche couldn't resist coming back to these old games.

My wife and I love to garden but haven't in the past few years since we bought our house. Previously we had a second story apartment with a 6x8ft balcony covered in veggie plants. I just spent an entire sunday cutting down thorny wineberry canes and I'll have to make time to set up some raised beds and deer netting before I can actually plant anything. I live in a clearing the woods and we get 2-3 dozen deer walking through daily.

I remember warring with RAGE. And I think I remember ARROW v SoF too. It's really sad that the old AT archive is gone. Pretty much all of alliance history was written up over there.

Write a promo argument between The Rock and Doink the Clown about who would win in a TLC match at Wrestlemania
ChatGPT
Here's a potential promo argument between The Rock and Doink the Clown about who would win in a TLC match at Wrestlemania:

The Rock: "Finally, The Rock has come back to Wrestlemania! And let The Rock tell you something, Doink, you have no chance of beating The Great One in a TLC match. You're just a clown, Doink, a silly little clown who thinks he can step in the ring with The People's Champion. But let The Rock tell you something, Doink, The Rock will lay the smackdown on your candy ass and leave you lying broken and defeated in the middle of the ring. The Rock is the most electrifying man in sports entertainment, and at Wrestlemania, he will prove it once again by taking you down in a TLC match!"

Doink the Clown: "Oh, Rock, you think you're so tough, don't you? Well, let me tell you something, I've been in more TLC matches than you've had hot dinners, and I know how to use those tables, ladders, and chairs to my advantage. You may have the muscles, Rock, but I've got the brains. I'll outsmart you every step of the way and leave you wondering what hit you. You think you're the People's Champion, but I'm the People's Clown, and I'll show the world that clowns can be tough too. So get ready, Rock, because when we step into that ring at Wrestlemania, it's gonna be a fight you'll never forget."

I asked it a bunch of questions about Earth:2025 history. You can see a ton of BS at work there. But it sounds like it really knows!

User
What was Earth:2025?
ChatGPT
Earth:2025 was an online multiplayer strategy game that was launched in 1999 and was active until 2016. The game was developed by Swirve.com and was set in a post-apocalyptic world where players competed to build up their cities, develop technologies, and form alliances to dominate the game world.

In Earth:2025, players began with a small city and had to manage resources, build infrastructure, and recruit armies to defend their city and attack other players. The game was turn-based, with each turn representing a day in the game world, and players had to balance their economy and military to remain competitive.

Earth:2025 was one of the first browser-based strategy games and had a large and dedicated community of players. Despite its closure in 2016, the game still has a small following, and its legacy can be seen in the many similar games that followed in its footsteps.

User
What were the main alliances in Earth:2025 around the year 2000?
ChatGPT
Around the year 2000, Earth:2025 had several major alliances that players could join to form cooperative groups for mutual protection and advancement in the game. Some of the main alliances in Earth:2025 at that time included:

The Federation - This was the largest and most powerful alliance in the game, consisting of many top players who were known for their skill and experience. The Federation had a strict hierarchy and a well-organized military structure that allowed it to dominate the game world.

The United Alliance - This was another large and powerful alliance that was formed in response to the growing dominance of The Federation. The United Alliance was known for its democratic structure and its commitment to fairness and equality among its members.

The Dark Empire - This was an alliance of players who preferred a more aggressive and ruthless approach to the game. The Dark Empire was known for its willingness to use any means necessary to achieve its goals, including raiding and pillaging other players' cities.

The Legion of Terror - This was a smaller but highly respected alliance that was known for its strong sense of camaraderie and its skilled and experienced players. The Legion of Terror was often seen as a formidable opponent in the game, and many players respected its members for their strategic prowess and tactical abilities.

These were just a few of the major alliances in Earth:2025 around the year 2000, and there were many other smaller groups and factions that players could join depending on their preferences and play style.

User
What were some more?
ChatGPT
Sure, here are a few more notable alliances that existed in Earth:2025 around the year 2000:

The Iron Fist Coalition - This was an alliance of players who believed in a strong and centralized government, and who favored authoritarian rule. The Iron Fist Coalition was known for its strict code of conduct and its commitment to discipline and order.

The Syndicate - This was an alliance of players who specialized in economic warfare and trade. The Syndicate was known for its shrewd business sense and its ability to manipulate the game's market system to its advantage.

The Confederation of Independent States (CIS) - This was an alliance of players who favored a more decentralized approach to the game, with each member city retaining a high degree of autonomy. The CIS was known for its diverse membership and its commitment to mutual defense and cooperation.

The Peoples Front - This was an alliance of players who advocated for social justice and equality in the game. The Peoples Front was known for its progressive values and its commitment to helping new players get started in the game.

These alliances, along with the ones I mentioned earlier, represented a wide range of play styles and philosophies in Earth:2025, and they played a crucial role in shaping the game's community and culture.

User
What about Moral Decay?
ChatGPT
Moral Decay was a notable alliance in Earth:2025 around the year 2000. It was a controversial alliance that was known for its aggressive tactics and its disregard for the game's rules and conventions.

Moral Decay was founded by a group of players who believed that the game had become too stagnant and predictable, and who wanted to shake things up by adopting a more anarchic and chaotic approach. The alliance was known for its willingness to raid and pillage other players' cities, regardless of whether they were allies or enemies, and for its use of unconventional tactics such as espionage, sabotage, and propaganda.

Despite its reputation as a "rogue" alliance, Moral Decay attracted a large following of players who were drawn to its unconventional style and its anti-establishment ethos. The alliance was able to hold its own against some of the more established and powerful alliances in the game, and it played a significant role in shaping the game's meta and community.

However, as the game progressed and the developers implemented stricter rules and penalties for rule-breaking behavior, Moral Decay's influence began to wane. The alliance eventually disbanded in the mid-2000s, but its legacy can still be felt in the game's history and lore.

Who was Helmet?
ChatGPT
In the context of Earth:2025, "Helmet" was the screen name of a prominent player who was active in the game during the early 2000s. Helmet was known for being one of the most skilled and experienced players in the game, and he was often regarded as a legend and an icon by other players.

Helmet was particularly famous for his expertise in the game's military aspect. He was a master strategist and tactician, and he was known for his ability to orchestrate large-scale battles and campaigns with precision and finesse. His military exploits were the subject of many stories and legends among the game's community, and he was often seen as a hero and a role model by aspiring players.

In addition to his military prowess, Helmet was also known for his dedication and leadership skills. He was a key member of several major alliances, and he played a crucial role in shaping the game's meta and community. His contributions to the game were widely recognized and respected, and he was one of the most influential players of his time.

It's worth noting that there were likely multiple players who used the screen name "Helmet" in Earth:2025, as the game allowed for duplicate screen names. However, the player who is most commonly associated with the name is the one I've described above.

How did Divine Justice start?
ChatGPT
Divine Justice was an alliance that was founded in Earth:2025 by a group of players who shared a common goal of promoting justice, fairness, and respect in the game. The alliance was initially formed in the early 2000s, at a time when the game's community was becoming increasingly fractured and competitive.

The founding members of Divine Justice were players who believed that the game's culture had become too toxic and that there was a need for a new kind of alliance that would prioritize ethical behavior and positive values. They saw themselves as a kind of "vigilante" group that would stand up against cheaters, bullies, and other players who engaged in unethical or abusive behavior.

To that end, Divine Justice established a strict code of conduct that all members were expected to adhere to. This code emphasized honesty, respect, and fair play, and it was enforced through a system of internal discipline and peer review.

Over time, Divine Justice grew in size and influence, and it became one of the most respected and well-regarded alliances in the game. Its members were known for their skill, their integrity, and their commitment to making Earth:2025 a better place for all players. They played an active role in promoting sportsmanship and fair play, and they worked tirelessly to root out cheaters and other rule-breakers.

Today, Divine Justice is remembered as one of the most important and influential alliances in the history of Earth:2025. Its legacy serves as a reminder that, even in the often cutthroat world of online gaming, it is possible to create a community that values integrity, respect, and positive values.

Wow I remember un4given. I should mention I went by the name MAZ back in the day. Somebody else has taken that name here so I couldn't use it.

I started in TALON. I played maybe two sets there and then broke away with a guy named Arka to form Veni Vidi Vici (vVv), which merged with GiM to form Phoenix. Phoenix eventually merged with CNA to form Divine Justice where I played until I dropped off. I read somewhere that DJ merged with somebody to form VieNNa a while after I left. I have not kept in contact with anyone. I was active on Alliance Talk 20 years ago, when ARROW had 300+ countries and MD, MONSTERS, Omega, Genesis, etc basically held the whole top 10. I played one set in RAGE but I think I was mostly spying on them and trying to learn stuff to bring back to DJ.

I spent a lot of time trying to get pacts for DJ so I was somewhat in contact with FAs and Presidents of the big alliances but I don't remember many of them.

So I've been playing for the past two weeks and I noticed that a bunch of the alliance tags are the same names that were active when I played Earth 2025 20+ years ago. Which alliance has the most active players from the early days of Earth 2025, if any still do?

I remember that wazmo archive. I found it at some point after I quit. Also the original AT on the wayback machine doesn't work except to see the titles of a few posts. If you click the post it either says it's not archived or it takes you to a totally unrelated post that was archived.

TBH I haven't played since approximately 2002. Maybe one reset sometime between 2002-2006 but I'm not so sure. I used to go by MAZ or maybe MAZZ (there's a different guy who took the name Maz around 2010). I just joined for fun cuz I'm bored at work and thought of this game. I see there's less than 500 countries and the alliances are all empty. For all I know that might have happened ten years ago.

I'm sure nobody remembers me but I played in the following alliances: TALON, Phoenix, Veni Vidi Vici (vVv), and Divine Justice. I also did a set or two in RAGE and MD but I don't remember if I was legit or spying on them :)
