I was fluffing around with what I thought were bad ideas but the way you spun it makes it a pretty cool idea.

Maybe income and/or industrial production could be depressed a little during the missile building phase. You know, to pay for the high costs of building a missile. Allow warfare tech to decrease # turns required to build a missile and also allow missiles to be sold on the black market.

Another idea is that missiles could vary in destructive capabilities based on the # of turns invested in them and the % of warfare tech. (Perhaps also the income or NW of the country building the missile since larger countries would be putting more $$$ into building missiles.) The market listings could show the destructive capability of each missile and more destructive missiles would sell for more money. This would give missile strat countries incentive to grow their size vs. just staying small with max tech and hitting the missile button all set long.

since cruise missiles are essentially worthless
what if once in a blue moon
you received back this report
your cruise missile hit enemy command and control
opp forces' readiness diminished by some ungodly amount

dantzig may have something here
replace medical tech
with missile tech
investing in missile tech increases missile destructive power
but obviously there are too many missile maniacs already

and i love the steal goods from the market button
and infiltrate GDI
or a spy op that would block your opp's access to the market for some period of time

cruises help:

lower readiness on target
lower SDI on target
lower SS, PS, GS, BR, AB break on target
raise your readiness

i think you just think they are worthless because you are a worthless suicider. in reality, nukes are the most worthless missile. but ill bet they are your favorite, right gregg?

cruise missiles are worthless in individual games for LGing
that is what i should have said
they may have some use in clan games and on KRs but in individual games for LG they are pointless
have you ever been hit with a cruise missile barrage and then LGed? i never have in all the years of playing this game
if they were useful as a prelude to an LG you would see them used in that fashion in individual games and it never happens
read the news of any individual server do you ever see
x EM y, x EM y, x PS y,
no you never see that ever
having read express news for months i have never seen that
if the admins want cruise missiles to be an effective weapon in individual games for LG then some changes need to be made

if i am wrong and EMs are widely used as a prelude to an LG in individual games i would love to see some evidence of it

How the fluff are CMs or NMs useful for "individual landgrabbing".

Hmm, i wanna do a LG...let me KILL SOME CIVILIANS AND BUILDINGS, thus netting me fewer buildings on a grab

OR

let me DESTROY SOME ACREAGE, thus netting me fewer acres grabbed, fewer ghost acres, and raise their tech %'s

you are so fluffing stupid it is hilarious

EM's will actually lower readiness and # of units, hence is always useful as a prelude to any attack.... but as ozzite said.... the others are purely destructive, so actually BAD to do before LG's

People in Express would get PISSED if you EM'd them a bunch before an LG. Might help with top farming though.

I think what gregg was trying to say is that EMs are useless in individual games because no one uses them properly and no one is scared of them. NMs and CMs act as a good deterrent for LGs and using them as retals can deter others from grabbing you in the future. They can also be used to effectively cripple a netting player. A strategically launched battery of NMs and CMs can definitely keep a netter out of the top 10. He wasn't saying that NMs and CMs helped with grabbing.

lets assume dantzig properly interpreted greggspeak:

why should EMs help for LGing?

why should EMs be as powerful as you seem to think CMs and NMs are?

why should EMs be changed just because people don't use them to their full extent?

qz and dantzig
EM's 2% readiness reduction and minimal force reduction may have some utility in a situation where forces are closely matched
so here is a different question and proposal

do EMs on EE result in DR?
i know they did on Earth2025 i learned that the hard way when hitting a big money lurker.

as long as EMs produce DR they are actually counterproductive to yield when used prior to an LG

so if EMs do result in DR the proper use of EMs is to let them sit in the silo
if EMs are not counted in DR then they can be very useful in very tight circumstances
please consider making EMs more useful in individual games

thanks for your consideration

by that logic, no missiles are worth anything in a individual game

do not see why you are just harping on EMs

now, if you are suiciding, which would be the ONLY reason you would use missiles in a individual game, cruises very useful

they will break down the targets SDI before you chem him, and cheming him will further break down the SDI before you raise it again with nukes

every missile is equally important when suiciding on a individual server.

nukes are just about worthless on a clan server

they do have great utility then in the exact right circumstnces

i wrongly assumed that like my bad experience on swirve that they did diminish yield

Even on swirve they didn't affect DR; there are situations when it can "appear" to lower DR if you're not paying attention to everything.
