18 illustrious members of our community applied and were selected to nominate and vote in the Earth Awards, a tradition long lost but finally resurrected after many years.

The membership broke down as follows

Only one person who applied before the deadline was not accepted. People who applied after the deadline will still be considered for this active round's awards.

Alas of the 18 people in site not all were active and some will be removed who neither nominated nor voted. Only 10 people actually voted and in some cases voters chose to abstain from a given category. Someone could not nominate themselves for a category however they could vote for themselves.

Ivan I didn't vote for our war I voted laf sol. But the reason many may have voted for our war was bc despite being outnumbered early on and even more outnumbered later on we were still not tagkilled. The war was close until the end and if there was a way to track nw killed you would be surprised me thinks. Although I still don't get how laf vs sol wasn't the winner as everybody was surprised with the fs and the outcome.

In terms of lifetime achievement, while I agree that Myself & Pang & Slag have all done a fluff-ton of work, Boxcar definitely helped the game survive after ES & GT died.... Evo2025 is awesome, but we still haven't had time to open it to others... so from that perspective, Pang has definitely had some extra usefulness to the game's survival ;)


Without it, Evo may have absorbed some more people lol... and SOL & SOF & Omega & whoever else has their own sites....

Cool idea, but you need a bigger cross section of voters. There's some fairly obvious bias showing in the results.

Hopefully the next one will get a little more attention from the community.

Realistically one single person's opinion won't be an accurate judge of bias, but I do agree in principle that it would be better to have more diverse voters... but everyone was welcome to apply and not all alliances did...

Most of the rest of the 50k+ game from no tags. Not so much an impressive feat as what I am sure was an impressive amount of time spent camping the news and waiting for DRs to expire...

No, that is dumb. You can't nominate yourself but if someone else thinks you are or your alliance is qualified then you are welcome to vote for it.

Why should an alliance with 5 members have the same representation as an alliance with 60 members? That is assuredly not a proportionate view of the player base.

congrats to detmer for doing all the legwork and putting this together. I suspect that next set there will be an ass-ton more nominees.

A thought, perhaps make the nominees public next set and then let the entire community vote? That would keep detmer busy for a LOOOONG time.
