then set up a representative type of system where you get so many voters per alliance membership. i.e.

40-50 members 5 voters
30-40 members 4 voters
20-30 members 3 voters
10-20 members 2 voters
00-10 members 1 voter

or something along those lines. That way a fair proportion of players to voters is achieved. Its just an idea anyway ;)

Just because an alliance is small should they be ignored?

A fair cross section seems to be the biggest issue to me.

So a proportionate representation of opinions is not fair? I think you have a very skewed sense of fairness.

anubis, that is more or less how things were without strict guidelines, though sheer luck. Sure, some large alliances had NO members but that is because they had NO applicants. Only one application was not accpeted (partially because they did not verify their identity and partially because they would have given someone over representation.

Well in the case of your scenario of an alliance with 30 voters and another with 10, by default the one with fewer members would HAVE to win. Clearly that is an untenable end-member, but is does demonstrate a flaw with forcing people to not vote for themselves - it penalizes someone for having more members and thus disproportionately skews results towards others. It is clear from looking at the results that people have at least on some level been voting for their true feelings rather than just themselves.

I would like to point out,

Detmer pul time effort and energy into reviving this tradition, while those who are complaining did not.

The first time always has the most bumps,
so get involved,
and make it better the second time around:)

each alliance has 2 representative and they can't vote him/herself and alliance they are so each alliance and member has fair chances to win.

And once upon a time, a thread with a 4-day-old timestamp would have dropped off the boards 3.75 days earlier... but the boards are slower now, and stuff stays active for weeks.
